Review

'It is imperative that Christians in the West seek understanding of the crisis in the Middle East. This amazing book explains and illustrates like no other the conflict - political and spiritual - and its devastating effect on human lives.'

Steve Chalke MBE

Founder Oasis Global & Faithworks

(Steve Chalke)

'I know no one with more experience of the persecuted Church than Brother Andrew. This book is a passionate call for Christians to engage the issue of the Middle East.'

Steve Gaukroger

(Steve Gaukroger)

'This riveting page-turner goes behind the news stories of conflict in Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories, to the ideological and spiritual struggles that underlie them. Brother Andrew courageously stirs up the demoralised churches and Christian leaders caught up in the maelstrom, and dialogues with top representatives of the PLO and Hamas terrorist organisations, seeking to place Bibles in their hands and the true Gospel in their hearts.

'The result is a uniquely personal, moving, and provocative account of the ugly rise of militant Islam, suicide bombers, and the implacable hatred and fear on all sides of the conflict, yet it is full of empathy for all the victims, especially the suffering Palestinian Christians . It addresses the challenges facing God's people today, and is guaranteed to unsettle many entrenched positions as it points the way to true and lasting solutions, namely, a strong and vigorous Church bearing witness to a strong and powerful Saviour who alone can bring peace to the world'.

Greg Haslam

Minister Westminster Chapel, London

(Greg Haslam)

The first book I ever read was God Smuggle by Brother Andrew. The impact of that book remains with me today. I'm sure that Light Force will have the same impact on many. An incredible story that teaches us much about love & faith, boldness and compassion. (Mike Pilavachi)

This is such an important book.
If you are at all interested or involved in what is happening in Israel and Palestine, you MUST read it. Whatever your theological stance, you will find some parts of the book uncomfortable. And there is nothing wrong with that! It is also a good book for those involved in any ministry of reconciliation. Both Jews and Arabs need to stop seeing themselves as morally superior and as the victim.
If, like me, you are a Christian Zionist, it will broaden your perspective and, hopefully, give you a heart for your Arabic, Palestinian brothers and sisters who are suffering more greatly than Messianic Jews in Israel. But be prepared for some Israelis to be presented in a negative light - particularly in the way some of the Israeli soldiers treat ordinary Palestinians. And this time you can't blame the biased Western press! Be aware that Brother Andrew spends far more time with Arabic believers than Jewish - his mission is to the suffering, persecuted church and churches in Palestinian areas are suffering more than Messianic congregations. And be prepared for the fact that Brother Andrew shows love towards senior members of terrorist groups, including Sheikh Abdul Yassin and Yasser Arafat. Brother Andrew says, "There are no terrorists - only people who need Jesus".
When I first picked up the book, my level of curiosity was high. I had several questions and fears. How was a man of the standing and calibre of Brother Andrew going to tackle the highly controversial issues, both theologically and politically, that go with any discussion over Israel and Palestine, Islam and Christianity? Is he going to dodge them or tackle them head on?

This is what religion should be about - Brother Andrew has a love for Jesus and a love for people of whatever creed, and has even earned the respect of some of the most unlikely men you could imagine. Truly inspirational, challenging and heartwarming, this book is a 'must read' for anyone who really wants to understand practical Christianity. Theology is, of course, important, but here is a man who 'gets his hands dirty' serving his Saviour in the melting pot of the Middle East.

A great insight into the mind-sets that underlay problems of the middle east, and how only the love of Christ, lived, has the answer. Inspires one to be more active in reaching out to others of all religious and political persuasions, seeing them all as lovable children of the one God.

This book is a must read. Truely the only hope for the middle east.
A must read book for those involved in the conflict to get a new perspective, but also for Christians world wide to wake up to their responsablities. Christians must stand for justice and against violence. We must be salt and light! If both of my children are fighting I don't have to stand with one aginst the other. We can and must love both, the Jews and Arabs. We are all Gods children. We are all breaking His heart.

Brother Andrew I am surprised at you! You were once God's Smuggler but this book is more God's Smotherer!

It is so weighted in favour of a palestinian view point and the little of the Jewish (God's chosen people) perspective feels tagged on and falls far short of making the book balanced.

There are some very good parts but the Jews deserve better and if I did not know better and only got my news from SKY and BBC this book would make me turn against God's own!

PS the west bank is actually called Judea and Samaria!
