Format: Hardcover
From running the famous Islington Studios at the age of just 26 to producing some of the UK's most successful films - Betty Box had a truly amazing life. To become such a success in such a male-dominated industry can't have been easy - and wasn't. This is a must-read for anyone with an interest in the British Film Industry. Best bits are the chapters reporting on location shoots for "Deadlier than the Male" and "Campbell's Kingdom". A definite 5 out of 5.

Format: Hardcover
I dont know if betty Box was the first ever British film producer but she was certainly a pioneer. Not only was she among the forefront she was also one of Ranks most successful producers ever, despite the opposition of such formidable contemporaries as Michael balcon. She tells a very entertaining story of her life and career in films.A vivid potrayal of film making in England between the 1940s and 1960s is provided.however given her acknowledgement of Dirk Bogardes boyfriend one wonders why she was so puzzled at the fact that Bogarde did not make out with Bridgette Bardot. She has a great fondness for J ames Robertson Justice and the Doctor film.Given the price i managed to read this book in one afternoon at the British Library
