As a fan of The Office and Extras, I knew that I would be watching Life's Too Short on DVD. Going into it I expected that it would not venture far from Ricky Gervais's tried and true formula, which it doesn't, but I found Warwick Davis very refreshing. I love that he, a bona fide actor, embraces this character completely and is not shy about physical humor, which I love, and his facial expressions are priceless. You really begin to empathize with the world he lives in, but the whole comedy is not based on his stature, thankfully. He is able to draw in the audience in a way that Andy Millman did not, and keeps you teetering on, "Is he a jerk, or a nice guy surrounded by idiots?"
My favorite episode in this series is the one with Johnny Depp, a MUST SEE for JD fans. I love that Shaun Williamson is back, but his potential is sorely underutilized. Les Dennis and Keith Chegwin are a welcome sight, but their appearances are rather stiff and unnatural. The woman playing he receptionist really gets on my nerves, but that's part of the plan. People who complain that Gervais and Merchant have made the same series three times can't see the delicious irony of the play within a play, when actors are acting as actors... it can get confusing, but is great fun.

Because the BBC kept shifting schedules on this I only ever caught it a couple of times when it was shown on TV. So glad I bought the DVD to watch it in full because it is laugh aloud funny in places. I have watched the Liam Neeson bit about ten times and tears rolled down my face every time. In the same vein as The Office, it will have you squirming and watching through your fingers in embarrassment. Warwick Davis is fantastic.

I really enjoyed this series and wish there had been a series 2.

One thing I noticed is that if you close your eyes while listening to Warick - you could be forgiven for thinking the lines are actually intended for David Brent. I realised it's due to Warwicks excellent delivery that initially misdirects you away from this conclusion. Once I realised this and starting paying more attention to the scriptwriting I started to be able to pick out lines and mannerisms that seemed to fit certain aspects of David Brents character.

None of that is meant as a criticism in any way. It's a really good series and there are some first rate comedy from people you would not usually expect to deliver comedy. Liam Neeson is fantastic as is of course Warwick Davis. The only reason I give it fours stars is that the comedy moments (many of which are pure gold) are quite intermittent. You can go for 3 or 4 minutes without laughing at all. It's almost like they didnt develop enough comedy material to keep it afloat.

Very good comedy and Warwick Davis is brilliant. if you like The Office and Extras then you will definitely enjoy Life’s Too Short, although they are so similar you may find yourself making comparisons, Warwick’s character is basically another version of David Brent and there are so many similarities, which isn’t necessary a bad thing. I do think though I would have enjoyed it even more had I never seen The Office and Extras as the humour would be so fresh.

There are some hilarious scenes acted out brilliantly by all the actors, certain scenes still had me still laughing for ages afterwards - when Warwick and his accountant are in a nightclub and they try to chat up two girls - when he goes on a second date with someone he met through an agency and then tries to catch the attention of another woman in front of his date, and I really loved Liam Neeson’s scene.

I would definitely recommend it.

A very good series. It's so funny and pushing sense of humour boundaries of being a dwarf is done really well to make it both funny and make you feel sorry warick as well. Item came well packaged and in good time for Christmas as this is a Christmas present. I'm rating it four stars as I have yet to play the disc so hopefully the disc will be of good quality :)

didn't know what to expect with this; though am a fan of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Got it after watching the scene with Liam Neeson (my opinion the DVD is worth it for that alone) Was a bit worried it might just be cheap gags at dwarfs. (though their are a few) I just found Warrick Davies so funny and the situations he gets himself in. Reminds me a bit of David Brent (The office) I just couldn't stop laughing. This guy who loves to talk about his part in star wars and the little known film Willow. Sting even chucks him out of a charity bash. though the show may not be original or ground breaking. But it is funny; and well made.
Jonny Depp's scene is a bit on and off. His whole conversation with Ricky Gervais.
overall the series is worth watching. Pure genius from Gervais and Merchant of of course Davies.
But suppose if your a fan of the office and extra's and not sure if this will win over any Gervais/merchant critics.
But I just loved the way Davies goes about. Thinking he's this big showbiz star.
(who has to hire Cat Deeley/ Shaun Williamson (Barry eastenders) Keith Chegwin to be his celebrity guests at his party to show off to his soon to be ex-wife and her boyfriend. :)
So should you buy this? Yes
And I do not know how Liam Neeson did that scene; must have been done in a lot of takes. a truly great actor.
