Life's a Cappella is the heart-breaking story of Erin Lewis. But as the story unfolds you realise exactly what Erin has been through and why it has made her who she is now. To be able to live her future, she must first let go of the torture of her past and prove her responsibility to the little sister she has only just found out existed.
A heartbreakingly beautiful written story and a very worthy 5 stars.
This story is not at all what I expected. A romance born of pain and torment, you follow the story of Erin who tries to turn her life around after a childhood of horror that would have broken the strongest person. Turning her back on her past, she arrives in Miami and starts her life over. She meets new friends and in turn falls in love but can she ever truly be happy?
Erin’s past catches up with her once again though and the pain that she had buried deep inside her pours out once again and threatens her new life and the relationships she has formed as a result. This story goes to show that the most unexpected turns in life can be positive though and once again Erin’s life has a purpose.
This story switches between the young Erin and who she is today but the way it has been written is clever and the reader soon starts to piece together Erin’s story from the nightmares she has endured through her life.
This book is very well written and although for me it started a bit too slowly you are soon carried away by the pain and sadness and the joy and happiness.
For those of you interested, this book ends in a HEA and with no cliff-hanger in sight. It is a raw and emotional read though and one which is sadly all too common in today’s society.
Yessi Smith is definitely a writer to follow.
Received in return for an honest review.
This book has really stood out to me. I sat all evening reading this instead of catching up on any TV! I was totally gripped and sucked in.
What a woman!
Change your name, be someone else! But you can never escape your past it always has a way of coming back and biting you on the ass.
I'd highly recommend this book.
First sign of a good book for me......Is not being able to put it down......this book did not let me down.
I read the whole story in one sitting....
A Simply Amazing debut novel....
This story introduces you to Erin Lewis......a young woman, who at the tender age of eighteen flies from her home town of Alabama to Miami......she leaves everything behind including her name.
All Erin wants is to create a new safe life but most importantly to escape her past which has left her broken....
Like the saying goes `fake it till you make it'
Erin works hard at being a strong independent woman whilst studying for her nursing qualifications....
Erin's past didn't allow her to develop confidence in social situations......she was a quiet shy girl who escaped reality within lyrics of songs......for Erin every life event needs a sound track....
In Erin's new life she lets very few people pasted her concrete barriers......she believes if she doesn't let anyone in no one can hurt her again......her past as left her so broken she doesn't know how to let love in....
Erin has created a safe haven within Miami surrounded by a close knit group of friend......Camilla, Brianna and Tonya but she can't completely open up to them has no one knows what she is hiding!
On her final winter break from college......Erin and friends load up and head out to Key West to enjoy some sphere fishing.
Trent is a HOT Harmonica player come law enforcement officer from Miami......who shakes up Erin's concrete barriers......there is an instant spark which Erin doesn't know how to handle....
On return from Key West......Erin and Trent soon becomes an item....Read more ›
Life is good… far better from where she began. She has tried to forget her past, but life has a funny way of throwing you a curveball . Before she can fully settle into her new life, her past catches up with her. Music is a main component to this book - Erin uses music to cope with her feelings, to celebrate, to pick herself up when she is feeling down. That’s where the Book titles come in – Book 1 ‘Life’s A Cappella’.
This book is written in Erin and Shayla’s POV – I haven’t mentioned who Shayla is and this is deliberate – I would spoil the book if I did.
For a debut novel this book is well written, the characters feel real. I got attached to Erin and her struggles (but tissues will be needed at times). the secondary characters are written well too, and I am looking forward to reading the next installment… I recommend this book to all Romance readers over the age of 17.
