By the time my kindle flicker over to 5% I was toast, completely hooked and totally unrepentant at the fact that my plans for the day were sliding by the wayside.
The story centres on Penny and quite rightly so because, boy does she take up a lot of space, she had so much going on it was almost impossible to know where to start, recently single…I think that is the nice way of saying she got dumped, she was teetering on the edge of a downward spiral that was threatening to get completely out of control, she really was a bit of a calamity but with her best friend by her side the made a spur of the moment decision to lift their spirits and head off on a wipe the slate clean vacation…you know the sort that only your bff is ever going to be able to pull off, the chance to do all the things you would never really dream of doing at any other time but that you friend will egg you on to just to see a smile on your face….well, yep that was the plan!
And what better place to kick up their heels that on the high seas – a cruise it is!
The trip that ensued was hotter than hades because when Penny meets Sam on the ship, there wasn’t a hope in he** that they weren’t heading straight between the sheets, it a vacation after all…a little fun and frolicking is allowed!
Sam was with his mates on a bachelor party but couldn’t believe his luck when he saw Penny but when they are back on dry land and he sees her again, the feelings are all too different because this time he is her latest client…way too awkward!
So the scene was set, this sexy guy was willing to move mountains to get his girl and despite the fact that she seemed determined to deny what she was feeling and to put obstacles in the way, she was on a hiding to nothing because one thing you learn about Sam is that he is relentless.
I thought Sam was the quintessentially perfect boy boyfriend and I adored him, he was such a strong character, so self-assured. I loved his alpha side and the fact that he was determined to get his way but I also liked the fact that he was willing to show his sensitivities too and with Penny that was a trait that I think he had to put to good use because she was a walking talking contradiction. There were times when I think I just wanted to reach into the kindle and slap her upside the head. Most of the time I got her, she made me smile, in fact she made me laugh out loud at some of the things she did and said but other times she just grated on my very last nerve.
The chemistry between them was off the charts, they were made for each other, they just had to find a way to both get with the programme and while I knew it was possible I also knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. The author threw more than a few twists into the plot, just enough angst and attitude to keep the story flowing along at a pace that determined it to be impossible to put down.
5+ hilarious stars
I so enjoyed this story. I laughed a LOT and even had a couple of tears amongst my laughter. Penny and Sam are so good together... unless one or the other is having a strop and not waiting around for an explanation. Frustrating, but most of the best books are the ones that have you screaming at your kindle "For God sake LISTEN TO HIM/HER"
Penny's best mate, Patti, is totally mental and the kind of best mate I'd love.
Penny is plodding along In life in her boring Job, with her boring boyfriend, Henry and then out of the blue Henry dumps Penny! Blindsided her. He wants to run for some political office and his evil assistant has dug up Penny's less than stellar past. So,Patti convinces her to still book the holiday she was planning with Henry. The girls have a ball on their cruise. On their last day they meet a group of gorgeous men, they agree to meet at a club on board that night . In walks Sam! The sparks fly and they have a great night of passion before Penny runs the next morning. They meet again via Penny's work, he becomes her client. From here on the story is one mishap and a lot of drama that has you laughing, pulling your hair out in frustration and holding you breath. There are a few characters that make you want to commit a nice bit of GBH but that adds to the fun.
This is one to add to your list of must reads.
When life throws you a crap hand after thinking things with the boyfriend are going to the next level when he turns and tells you that because of your colourful past he has to end things you just charge an obscene amount of coffee to his account as payback. That's what happened to Penny, but with her best friend Patti as her back up, she goes on the holiday she booked for them both (well he did pay for it all) so now on their 7 day cruise is coming to an end Patti spots the eye candy of a bachelor party. Not wanting to be rude Penny goes along and after a tequila filled night she ends up doing the walk of shame the next morning minus 1 Jimmy Choo and a pair of torn panties.
Now it's back to reality and work and other adult stuff Penny is suffering. But when she is asked to crunch numbers for a new client Dresden Architects it's when she gets to the meeting she gets more than she bargained for. Her cruise night stand Sam is there and well he wants to know why she left without a goodbye. But along with a proposition to her boss she will be working along side Sam but will they be able to resist each other, or will the sexual tension get too much.
No book would be complete without some drama and this book has lots.
Can't wait to read more of Ms Hollyfield's books as she doesn't let you down, you will be drawn in with this book and you will be unable to put it down.
Well guess what. That ain't happening again she has been added to my insta click list. Her style fan bloody tastic... I feel a reading binge coming on to catch up with all her other works. Right to the story I've just read *covers eyes* sorry for the above word vomit *cry laughs*
This book had me hooked from 2% yep that early on I knew it was going to be knock out. That Style I've mentioned above it drew me in and yep I took the bait.
