i got this to replace a standard rigid bowl, it packs away small east to store etc. when full, stays stable and upright.easy to carry with water in it, easy to clean and pack away, all you might need from this product.how ever, if you do by accident knock the rim in a down motion the tendancy is for it to spill quite easily if its too full or clumsy like me, and perhaps could do with being a little bigger. ALL IN ALL, A GREAT PRODUCT, IM GLAD I GOT ONE.WELL RECOMMENDED

This Lifeventure 8L collapsible bowl is not bad, but it's not all it first appears.

For a start, the 110g claimed weight is wrong; it's in fact 30% heavier at 143g (& this is without the supplied stuff-sac).

As a keen UL (ultra-light) camping enthusiast, I'm interested in both the practicality & durability of an item, but especially with regard to its weight.

On phoning the company in February 2013 (Lifeventure in Berkshire), I was told by them that yes, they are often heavier than the stated 110g, but this was because the materials they buy in come in different grades with differing inherent weights. Okay - I can appreciate this, but 30% different? Why don't they state the weight range on their marketing &/or have better quality control/tighter margins?

A further point which freaked me out slightly was the statement on a label attached to the product exterior "This product should be reproofed regularly". Lifeventure's comment was to use a proofing spray on the interior lining such as Nikewax to help maintain the waterproofing from time to time. Seems reasonable with regard to waterproof garments & the like, but for the potential storage of potable water, I'm not so sure. Why wasn't this pointed out prior to purchase, at the very least on the product outer label? And won't the reproofing taint the water for some time after application?

With car camping I was a regular user of Ortileb's fantastically practical & durable folding 5 litre bowl (without any need for regular maintenance), which weighs a smidge under 200g. I suppose I expected a similar quality for substantially less weight; however it isn't on both counts.

I took one of these on a camping trip recently when everything had to fit into a backpack. The quality is good, it's very light and it flatens to take hardly any space. The size was OK for my needs - I have a frying pan which is about 22cm diameter and a 2.5 litre pot. You need to be careful about putting sharp knives in the bowl as I guess they would easily cut through the material. It is stable and can easily be carried when full. Another use for the bowl is to keep the beers or wine cool when not needed for the washing up. It's a nice bowl at a good price.

Brought this for a camping trip with size being one of the main factors and have been very happy with what I got. The bowl packs away very small, is easy to store, stays stable and upright when full. Also, with handles it makes it easy to carry or move when full. If by accident you do knock the rim in a down motion water can spill, but less likely to happen if the bowl isn't full to the top.

I would definitely recommend this product.

This was bought as an amusing gift for a friend who claims she likes to take virtually the 'kitchen sink' with her when she travels. Upon opening the package we were surprised to see a well made, lightweight and very useable product - so it fulfilled both the purpose of the small joke, and become something she uses on holidays for a variety of purposes - not necessarily the ones for which it was manufactured, but it has served in which to wash up after a picnic, carried some breakable goods, and been a rubbish bag when needed. As a collapsable bowl it is good, for many other puposes it exceeds itself.

..this is such a clever thing...we go camping a lot and needed something smaller for washing up..this has exceeded our expectations!! it is fully waterproof, big enough to carry everything and is very functional when used for washing up, and it dries quickly so you can pack it away...a brilliant find

used a few times for quick freshen ups and washups so far so good. Have always filled with cold water first then added the hot to the middle of the bowl and no problems so far.
