Emotionally this book is as powerful as any I have ever read and that includes some of the authors previous works, she just keeps on dishing out the turmoil and I am first in line every time.
The story is a not a story if I am being completely honest it is a journey, one that like every journey is full of both ups and downs, for the good and bad of human nature and the highs and lows that we all must experience in a bid to find out little corner of heaven and our happy ever after.
Lila, Blake and Pierce share their story with us and open their tale to us with absolute aplomb.
Starting over, new town, new life Lila ends up as roommates with Blake, this sewer tongued sex god has the type of attitude and prowess that has women weak at the knees but has he met his match with Lila?
But is Blake the man for her or will Pierce the man who plays his cards close to his chest and seems prepared to bide his time be the one to win her heart?
The story is an emotional ride through love lost and found, sexual awakening and desire and the true twists and turns that life deals to every single one of us.
It is the fight you show on the way back from even the most painful of knock down that determines the person you are meant to be and n this we get to see this in all its glory, nothing is left to chance, no stone is left unturned and every ounce of happiness is extracted by all the characters but they work garner their relationships.
This is a must read novel!
I have read a lot in the last two and a half years and id say that this is one of those epic stories that will just stick with you. I NEED, no DEMAND the follow up to this book like yesterday!
Lila is a character that we can all identify with at some point in our lives and her character grabbed me from the beginning. She is such a strong beautiful person and she really cannot see for herself what she is.
She makes the decision to quit her old life and her small town home to pursue a fresh start and to put the college degree to use by accepting her old college friends apartment whilst she is abroad studying. But as all great plans go there are obstacles in the way and I really enjoyed the journey with Lila through these turbulent times.
Id really just love to jump in and shout to the rooftops about our handsome, damaged love interest but part of the pleasure of reading this book is the discovery of this character for the reader so for that reason I won’t be naming him and he can be discovered how I did.
This book is jam packed with angst and emotions, the story kept me on my toes and my heart in my
mouth throughout, I felt like id been put through the wringer by the end.
All I can say is “ Lisa DeJong, you are one naughty lady for that brilliant cliff-hanger ending".
This was awful. I really didn't like the main female. I thought she was weak, shallow and fickle, and the fact that she couldn't work out what was wrong with Blake makes her either a bit thick, completely self-centred, or a bit of both.
There were editing and grammatical errors throughout...I thought the first time the female "shuttered" it must be a typo, but then when she "shuttered" again, I realised it was no typo and the author apparently doesn't know the difference between a window covering or a device that opens and closes to expose the film in a camera and a shiver or tremble?
The story could have been told in half the time and was ridiculously strung out as it is, so I couldn't believe it when it ended on a cliffy. I won't be buying the 2nd book because I felt no connection at all with the characters and couldn't care less what happens. It just left me irritated because I had bothered carrying on reading to the end. It was a waste of precious reading time...returned for a refund.
