Having spent most of my life involved with music in one way or another, I had always maintained that there were only ever two types of music: the GOOD and the BAD. I was wrong; I had forgotten about the EXQUISITE! And this CD certainly falls into that category.
If, like me, you have two sons and two grandsons, you will know that, when they’re not asking for money, there is no finer sound than boys’ voices. The boys of Libera are aged from seven to fourteen and so contain the full range from the high treble of the youngsters to the deeper tones of the early teens. This is used to amazing effect by their writer, arranger and conductor Robert Prizeman, whose genius produces the most stunning sound I have ever heard on a recording. The beauty of ‘Lux Eterna’, the haunting ‘Mysterium’, the almost foot-tapping ‘Dies Irae’ and, for that matter, every track on this disc is a tribute to the talent, professionalism, hard work and dedication of Mr Prizeman and the boys. Make no mistake, these young performers display talent and confidence far beyond their years. Soloists Liam, Adam, Steven and Alex inevitably steal the spotlight but this is essentially a team performance and it is the overall sound that remains in the memory long after the disc has been replaced into its case.
Apart from an infuriating lack of information on the sleeve (a deliberate ploy this, to create an air of mystery and anonymity; unfortunately it also creates an element of frustration), this CD is the nearest you will get to perfection. The music contains every mood and emotion you could imagine. You will marvel at the quality of the boys’ voices and you will not fail to be moved by the feelings they produce (a tip: have a box of tissues close at hand!). In short, this CD is not just superb music, it is an emotional experience and if I had to describe it in one word, it would be BREATHTAKING!

When travelling on the Heathrow Express, I kept hearing this music, and finally made out the fact that it was something called "Libera" by squinting at the video screen. I managed to track it down, and am really glad I did.
We play this CD frequently, and never tire of it. A perfect amalgam of church choir and orchestral arrangement.

Imagine being in a high vaulted candle lit church for evensong-allow yourself to be lifted by the music onto another plane. The mix of an all boys choir, latin, english, modern beat and etheral backdrop make this very special. Enjoy!

The real delight in this splendid recording lies in the first-class singing by the lads from St. Philips in London town. The vocal sound is clear and warm, of the kind that talented boys rigorously trained in the English choral tradition can create. Buy this album for the singing, then enjoy its several benefits. In a dimension beyond that of their Angel Voices releases, this is an album in the truest sense: an original, highly accessible masterwork in twelve movements by Robert Prizeman, with nods to Paschelbel and Tallis in two of them. The New Age synthesizer score complements and showcases the chorister's voices to fine dramatic effect. The piece is an astonishingly successful meld of old and postmodern, of Latin and English text, of centuries-old choral practice and electronic instrumention. This recording sounds great. It is superbly mixed and very well engineered. Hats off to everyone who had a role in making it, with an especially hearty "Well done!" to Mr. Prizeman and soloists Liam O'Kane, Adam Harris, Steven Geraghty, and Alex Baron.

In todays world of rap, pop and other "throw away" music, it is good to see decent music can still be produced. A magnificent album.

I have never felt closer to God than when listening to this music. This music is so uplifting and wipes away the strains of yet another day on earth.

This is an album of rare quality. When I first received my copy I intended to have a quick wizz through the tracks before going to my next appointment. However, having started to listen I had to finish. No appointment could delay this pleasure. I've experienced these boys before and am aware of their excellence. This new recording surpasses all. Mere words cannot do it justice. You have to listen for yourself. A blend of classical and folk with a mild fusion of modern rock/pop. Superb lead vocals by Liam O'Kane. This album outshines most others on the market and easily deserves the success it has already achieved.

THE SINGING ON THIS RECORD IS EXCELLENT, IN A TYPICAL CHOIR SCHOOL TRADITION BUT THE ARRANGMENTS ARE VERY UPBEAT AND REMIND ME OF ADIEMUS BUT WITH A GREATER SENSE OF THE ORIGINAL. ONE LISTENING AND I THINK YOU WILL BE HOOKED IT HAS A MANTRA FEEL ABOUT IT WHICH IS IDEAL IF YOU WANT TO LOSE YOURSELF OR SOMEBODY ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. IF YOU ONLY BUY ONE CD THIS YEAR, THIS IS THE ONE, REALLY.
