This is the first books, I have read from this writer. To be honest, I purchased them because the box set was on offer and the reviews for the individual books was good. They are interesting books, storyline really good and great characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars My FAVORITE Romance! 28 Feb. 2016
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The Liar Duet currently stands as my favorite Romance out there. My love of the series began with the first few pages I read in Compulsive and carried all the way through the end of Liar.

Nothing Lia writes is the norm for a genre and that is what I love so much about her books. When it comes to Romance, I’m probably a little harder to please. I don’t love the genre and only read them on occasion. This duet of novels, however, is not your typical Romance. Lia put her spin on things and I found it exciting, sexy, and humorous.

Daniel and Gray are two of my favorite novel characters. Daniel isn’t the overly hot, brooding, and perfect for the heroine guy in this novel. He is amazingly awesome the way Lia wrote and developed him. Likewise, Gray isn’t a blonde bombshell with little to no brain in her head. She’s no damsel in distress. Gray is smart and she’s independent, but she doesn’t let that stand in the way of getting her man either. It is a good balance.
Gray and Daniel both have secrets and issues that are discovered over the pages of both books. Their pasts have depth that make these novels and characters even more enjoyable.

Now that these two books can be purchased together and read right away, back-to-back, readers should really grab ‘em. Lia built a world that you’re going to love jumping into. Daniel and Gray (and the other cast of amazing characters) will wrap you up in their crazy situations and you won’t want to put them down.
5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not lying when I tell you that this was a great duet. I found myself a new favorite author. 14 Mar. 2017

Compulsive was about the character Gray struggling in life to put the past behind her in order to move forward. Compulsive was about an array of characters that brought purpose and meaning into each other's lives. Compulsive was written in the first person. The story transitioned well considering the varying degree of characters Gray interacted with. The layout of the story being primarily therapy sessions made for revealing dialogue. I felt like a spectator listening in on private conversations that took place in the therapists room. Exquisitely written I could not help but be absorbed by the beautiful truths and lies being delivered.

Behind all the lies the truth was hidden in plain sight. Dr. Harrison was her truth serum causing the lies to fall away and the truths to come forth.
“Sometimes people want things even if they’re not good for them. Sometimes people aren’t capable of making those decisions themselves." Great quote from Dr. Harrison.

Jessica's character added the much needed spirit of a young survivor reminding Alyssa and Gray the importance of a successful and happy youth.
“The root of the problem is still there, lying just beneath the surface”. This quote said it best. I knew Gray was dealing with a heavy burden of guilt. It was easy to pick up the clues. Needless to say it was still shocking and sad when the truth was revealed.

There was a push and pull relationship between Daniel and Gray. Dr. Harrison was torn between maintaining his Doctor/patient professionalism while struggling as a man.

Liar was the companion story to Compulsive and must be read in order to understand. These are not standalone stories. They are a duet.
Liar began where Compulsive left off with Gray giving Daniel space and herself time to become independent without relying on a man. The same characters as before made up this story. Daniel still had some hesitation and tried to resist Gray but in the end he caved and chased the fun that life had to offer. These two characters had a beautiful progression.
Nathan had more of a presence in this story to test the resolve of Gray's faithfulness. Daniel was very intimate with Gray creating a very sensual feeling.

In Compulsive I had not noticed the attraction as a honest means with Daniel I thought Gray was manipulating Dr. Harrison for her six month obligation. I can clearly distinguish the true desire in Liar. Hidden in plain sight was a romantic interest between a doctor and patient that created Dr. Harrison to question his professionalism as a therapist.

The parallels of these two characters lives was an unexpected surprise. Lia chipped away at my heart piece by piece dishing some happy memories only to placate me for a short period of time before dishing out the sadness. The main characters went back and forth with their guilt of loss leaning on each other then pushing away from each other.
Liar was the story that actually unveiled the lies that were hidden in Compulsive. It was quite shocking to discover the truth behind the lies. I had not seen that one coming.

“I had learned to lie to protect myself. From memories. From pain. From feeling anything at all, because shutting it out was easier than trying to filter out the bad”
Excerpt From: Fairchild, Lia. “The Liar Series (Duet Boxed Set).”

While the entire premise of both books was based on this lie and concept the beauty in which Lia crafted the story around this concept was the real draw. The story encompassed so much more than I thought. Lia wrote a full rounded story of characters who were on the edge of darkness and brought into the light.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed reading The Liar Series 8 April 2016
By SairaM - Published on Amazon.com

I enjoyed reading The Liar Series! The books compliment/complete each other perfectly. I enjoyed reading Gray's whole story and really enjoyed meeting Alyssa, Nathan, and of course Daniel! Just meeting Daniel is a reason to read this series! You can't keep running from your past, eventually it will all catch up to you.
Gray is an independent, smart, weak and strong, struggling with her inner self, compulsive liar!
Nathan is her weak and strong, lover, friend with his our inner issues!
Alyssa is a strong, sweet girl, who is looking for a real maternal figure!
Daniel is a Strong, Intelligent therapist, Protector type, Handsome lover!
This is a must read Set! Book One is Compulsive, Book two is Liar, both were 5 star reads for me!
Lia Fairchild wrote a wonderful story with amazing characters. I can't wait to see if she'll write more on these characters.
I recieved a complimentary copy generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 Amazing Must Read Novels in Contemporary Fiction! 21 Feb. 2016
By Deb_Loves2read - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This amazing duet includes 2 of my favorite stories from this talented author! I was actually fortunate to have been given each story previously, to read for my honest reviews, which I honestly loved and left my review on each individual release at that time. These riveting novels were thought-provoking and so well written, that I did not want to put either one down! Then after I finished the first book, I couldn't wait for the second one, but at that time I had to, so having both stories available in one set now is awesome :) Ms. Fairchild has the knack for reeling you in from the start and grabbing hold right through until after you've finished leaving you to ponder & want to share and discuss with other avid book readers. Wonderful attention to detail and descriptions, plus well developed characters and witty dialogue, will keep the reader engaged and the pages turning! Yes, I do highly recommend this to all readers, especially those who love contemporary fiction with drama and romance.
5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story of breaking down walls, and letting love in 5 Mar. 2016
By Duckie McQueen - Published on Amazon.com

I really loved this series. Honestly, it's a lot different the books I typically read, but the story concept sounded interesting. I think Lia Fairchild did an amazing job writing characters you connect with and feel emotionally invested in, and also in the storytelling of past tragedies, and the path towards healing. I was a little bothered initially by the development of a relationship between doctor and patient, that is a big taboo. But, the way these characters are written, and the way they care for each other really makes you root for them and want them to make it work. Gray is such a believable person, you can feel her pain, her joy, and sometimes you just get frustrated with her as she makes bad choices- just as you would with anyone who is battling Compulsive behaviors. I also love Daniel, who is both a doctor who cares for Gray as a patient, and a man who loves the strong woman that she is. I also really love the character of Alyssa, a troubled teen with a foul mouth, who has a compassionate heart and has found her way into the hearts of Gray, Daniel, and others around them. You definitely won't regret reading this series, just be prepared you will smile, and you may cry.
