The plastic USB plug is just horrible, and the latch is so poor that it can't stand the force of plugging it into a socket and usually retracts with a horrible snapping noise.

The speed appears to be as advertised (100MB/s reads seem to be possible on USB3, and it can max out USB2 at ~29MB/s) so it's useful as e.g. a boot drive in an application where you won't be plugging and unplugging it often.

I stripped the outer case off and wrapped the middle bit in heatshrink so I wouldn't have to put up with the latch.

I used this to install Windows 8.1 Pro on my new gaming rig. It is both fast and effective. The only thing I don't like is the mechanical aspect. As others have said the switch that holds the USB out when in use is kind of weak and sometimes it snaps (not in a breaking way) back inside if you don't hold it in place with your thumb on the orange switch you see there in the picture. Other than that, as a USB stick it is great.

Overall I suspect you could get the same speed but with better build quality for about the same money.

I use this to boot up mine Windows 8.1 PE iso disk. This is a bootable USB, I don't understand why most of the people here are complaining about that? It is USB 3.0, meaning it has fast speeds and it's advertised as "upto 100mb/s" read speeds.

The downside to the USB is that it has a plastic connector. This works well with my HP Split X2 (it has a USB 3 port; maybe that's why it connects so well with that), but on my other computers (all of them are USB 2.0) it doesn't seem to connect properly - you need to move the USB around until the connectors actually connect.

I've used this USB for numerous things, such as, Booting Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows 8.1 PE, Hiren's Ultimate Boot Disc, Recovery tools.

I bought this as a "recovery disk" substitute for my ultrabook computer to save carrying an external DVD drive while traveling. It's thin and very light. 8GB is more than enough for a suite of recovery tools and a bootable Linux distribution (I use Ubuntu) which load quickly thanks to the fast 100MB/s read speed. The write speed is much slower than the higher-capacity versions but that's not a big deal for my application. However, I wouldn't recommend this device for frequent daily use because the plastic construction might not stand up to rough handling.

Write speed transfering a 2GB file only 12MB per second using USB 3.0 , very plasticky and flimsy , the retractable USB end does not lock in very well when trying to put into a USB port with very little pressure it retracts itself.
Read speed is very quick transferred 2GB file instantly , arrived next day using amazon prime

Firstly, yes they are cheappos but so is the price. If you need something to take with you down the beach, go and find one with aluminium case. These are plastic, of good performance for the office or the home, are perfect. I got three and they all work perfectly for moving files around.

Pleased with it, plastic and feels a bit fragile so remove it from the USB socket with a bit of care, but it is USB3 and transfer speeds reflect this, other suppose USB3 drives have been slower than my quality old USB2 one, this goes at 3 times the speed, for the price I would recommend, just don't expect it to take rough treatment
