Product description

Review

"very funny" (Hot Stars, OK Magazine)

"A collection of crazed correspondence by Ted L. Nancy. The name is a pseudonym, perhaps for Jerry Seinfeld, who wrote the introduction. Seinfeld never comes clean, but the letters have his prints all over them" (Amazon.com)

I got this book as a birthday present on a Monday evening, started reading it on Tuesday morning and had finished it by the Wednesday. I read it on the train on my way to work (not the best idea when this book can make you laugh out loud page after page), you end up looking like a 'nut' yourself!
Ted L. Nancy is either a comic genius or a deranged psychopath! Even funnier than his letters, are some of the replies that large companies have made; especially when they have really tried to accomodate some of Mr Nancy's strange requests.
Top marks for this book. A great one to read to friends.

Got this from Amazon the other day having read a review in the Guardian. Laughed out loud a lot. The sort of book you can open at any page, read a bit have a laugh for 5 minutes or an hour.
Ted is a poor traveller with numerous problems, strange pets and unusal requests. Particularly funny are his requests for work with various organisations - the letter about being siamese twin wanting to work in a photocopying shop was especially amusing.

'Letters From a Nut' is truly hilarious! From Ted L. Nancy's lost tooth to his lost bag of otter hair, this book is a laugh riot! You must read this book in the order it is written to appreciate it to its fullest potential. The jokes come full circle. This kind of humor wreaks of Jerry Seinfeld. I highly recommend this book!! I can't wait to get my copy of 'More Letters From a Nut'!!

We bought this book while on holiday and it served to entertain not only us, but practically everyone we met on our travels. Suddenly our hotel room became the meeting place night after night as we sat and read these letters aloud to our new acquaintances as they cried tears of laughter. Nobody seems quite sure whether this guy is for real but his letters are silly, imaginative, provoking and absolutely brilliant. One can almost picture the faces of the people receiving them knowing they're a total wind up but still answering as professionally and politely as possible. I'm still reading them aloud to people regularly and have yet to find anyone that doesn't find them extremely funny!

I got this as a christmas present and was told that it was hilarious, read the reviews here saying the same. I just finished it on the train this morning and can honestly say that I didn't particularly enjoy it. There was one letter which nearly had me biting my tongue to supress the laughter but that was it. I think it was just stupid. Just a different sense of humour I guess. I gave it the second start for the ONE letter that cracked me up.

If Ted Nancy is a psuedonym for Jerry Seinfeld or not, this book is by far one of the funniest I've read in a while. Absurd letters to hotels, casinos, airlines, and more... Look for letters like one to a casino regarding weather or not this "Mr. Ted Nancy" would be allowed to bring his own soda vending machine into his hotel room... or if Hanes Co. would be interested in a new 6-day pair of underwear invention with three leg-holes. Then read the serious responses from the companies he wrote to. Most fun to read out loud to friends. Steer clear of the one tedious chapter of "Thank You letters" but enjoy all the rest. Would Greyhound let a time-pressed actor wear his foam costume shaped like a stick of butter on board? Believe it or not... Yes! Definitely one you won't want to put down.

Let's put it this way--if the author IS Jerry Seinfeld, it's pretty pathetic. This has been done SO MANY TIMES BEFORE--by Don Novello (THE LASZLO LETTERS), that Paul Dunn guy (IDIOT LETTERS) and, yes, The legendary Jerky Boys. If it is you, Jerry--how MUCH money do you need, anyway? If it isn't, then--okay, there's some funny s**t in here, but you can hardly claim credit for the idea, "Ted." Oh, well--maybe no one cares who thought up the notion of wasting other people's time--as long as it's funny. And for the most part, LETTERS FROM A NUT is that. Although I can't really picture Jerry Seinfeld "laughing out loud" as he claims he did when he first read these letters...unless he really did write them...

"Letters From a Nut," though hilarious, are written with just enough of a straight tone so as to be taken seriously. (God knows, there are enough real "nuts" out there capable of such quirky eccentricities). The letters, and the responses to them, are great fun to read. As for Ted L. Nancy, I think he's simply a very clever, imaginative comic with the kind of twisted comedic bent I enjoy most. I've spread the word about this thoroughly entertaining book...my sister and a couple of friends have bought and enjoyed it, too. I'll look foward to the sequel that I hope will follow. Mr. Nancy, I think you're terrific!
