Five Star Review
This is a standalone book by Theresa Sederholt an author I haven’t read before but will definitely be reading again. This book centres around Michael, he thinks life is perfect and everything is great. Until the week before his wedding his uncle gets a Dear John letter to give to him, and his world is shaken to the core. Not by the letter but what is revealed after the letter.
Michael is rich and good looking and seems to have everything on the outside, including a castle in Scotland that he grew up in, and honest to goodness castle. But when his fiancé sends him the letter, he goes to see her for an explanation she hands him a report about his family that shatters his world and shows that just because everything is hunky dory on the surface it’s not always underneath.
His family have always been crazy protective of him, partly due to getting kidnapped as a child, and other family dramas that are revealed as the story unfolds. But what’s revealed in the report his ex-fiancé gives him explains a lot to him and he has to learn to deal with all of that as well as the realisation that he has just lost the person he was planning on spending the rest of his life with.
He decides a fresh start is in order and despite protesting from his family he wants to take a job in the States and with his best friend Bo they set off to start a fresh and have a break.
Bo’s sister Dagan is in real estate so Bo suggests her as an agent to find them a house, Dagan is a self-conscious, Type A who hasn’t let that stop her from starting her own business, and making a good but withdrawn life for herself.
They have lots to overcome, least of all Dagan having to deal with bodyguards surrounding her constantly, and not from a distance as before.
Michael and Dagan become good friends and they develop a bond, hopefully that bond will stand the test of time, but not if Michaels ex-fiancé has anything to do with it.
I really enjoyed this book as there is plenty going on, you have the main characters and some crazy family to keep it funny and up beat but there are also story lines running underneath the main that keep you hooked and keep you reading. When I finished the book I was so sad it was over. I feel like I could have read another 400 pages about them all.

Just a heads up, there are many characters in this story that started out in "Unraveling Raven" and have been in all of the books so it would help if you read them first so you know who is who, all their personalities and how they feature in Michael's life. You can read as a stand alone, but knowing all the characters will make such a difference!
Michael is now getting ready to start a new job and is feeling on top of the world until a letter from his fiancee totally blows his mind, unfolds things about his own family - and puts it in a report and instead of having the decency to face him, he gives the letter to his Uncle Jax, the patriarch of the whole family. While his Uncles' Jax and Max want to open the letter -his Aunt Raven, Jax's wife will not let him open it, and it drives them crazy waiting for Michael to get home to Scotland from England where he went to school and lives with his best friend Bo. They want to know what is going on, and Max, who is head of security for the whole family is very nervous.
This letter not only reveals to Michael unspeakable things that happened to his family that Michael does not know about.
Michael goes to see Heather-his ex fiancee's house demanding to see her face to face, and all she does is accuse him of keeping secrets-secrets he had no idea of! He leaves her house and goes to talk to his family. He never sees her again.
Michael has always wanted to live his own life and live in his own home, and have a wife and to have children. Michael feels he may never have these things. Michael decides to take a job working on different rigs in the Gulf of Mexico from Louisiana to Santa Barbara. After speaking to his Uncles and his mother and father, and his Aunt Raven and Jackie, he goes with his friend Bo.
to California. Bo is from California, so without letting his family know he is back, he and Michael go to a hotel, to get everything set up. Of course all their guards go with them, and Jax and Max are beside themselves worried about Michael being so far away from them.
With the help of Dagen, Bo's sister who is a real estate agent, he finds a beautiful home to live in, and Dagen is asked to decorate it. Michael and Bo will live in this new home.
When Michael sees Dagen for the first time, he has a feeling inside like he never did with Heather, and all of a sudden, his past, the letter, nothing, matters to him more than making friends with Dagen. At first Bo is somewhat nervous, but he knows in his heart that Michael is a great man, and he will never hurt Dagen.
What happens with Michael and Dagen? What does his family think of her, and what does her family think of Michael? You will have to find out by reading this book. Just like life though, everything never runs smoothly and when Michaels goes out to the drilling rigs, one of them blows up with Michael on it.
I gave this book 5***** awesome stars because this book was epic! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book she writes, but one thing is for sure, there will be mystery, danger, romance, and there will be love!
You first met Michael in The Unraveling trilogy
You might say poor Michael at first. This man/boy has been through so much in his life. A kidnapping, constant security detail, private life.
Once he tries to make a life for himself out in the open he has a physco on his hands Heather!! She is deranged. One of those woman who can't take no for an answer, who is in a relationship because of WHO he is not, who he is. In it for the money, not the love.
Michael meets Dagen and life actually starts for Michael. It would seem they both have many firsts together. OMG Michael is an adrenaline junkie to say the least. Like his mom I would panic every time I find out one of my boys was doing what he was doing YIKES!!!!
In his life's journey he comes across someone from Raven's past. Reading this I was like man, now I have to go and re-read that whole trilogy again. This person from her past saved Michael, but didn't want recognition in public! Smart man!!
What I love about Michael and his whole family is that even though they are oceans apart, they are still a close knit family.
One word: Titanic!! that was priceless
I have loved you from the start and continue to love you still. I have watched you grow from a kindhearted boy to an amazing loving man. I know that your heart was broken and it filled you with feelings of betrayal and anger but I am so glad that you allowed your heart to remain open. They say we find love when we least expect it and in places we never conceive.
At one point I was afraid that you would steer away from love due to the bitterness of what was said and done but then I remembered. You come from an amazing family, a family that has persevered through hardship, love and loss. Though at times their love and protection can be a bit overbearing, I have always admired how they move heaven and hell to find peace and happiness with and for one another.
I am grateful to have read your story and before I go, umm… I have a request and one that you may fear to take on. I know your Aunt Raven has her ways and will do what she can but please be the buffer between Antonia and Jax as she gets older. I can already see she’s a mixture of stubbornness from her father and determination from her mother. Man does that make one hell of a combination. Even though your Uncle Max will try, I get the feeling the only one who can truly explain what she will be going through will be you.
I can’t wait to read what happens next.
PS. With no offense to your Aunt Jackie, send my love to your Uncle Max <3
