We originally bought this book because we were concerned about the narrow minded religious teaching our boy was receiving in school, It's great easy to read and with little activities to do together with the kids related to the pagan festivals highly recommended!

This book is exactly what I have been looking for! Its a perfect and gentle introduction into the basics of the Pagan festivals. Easy to access, with very down to earth guides, including simple things to bake and make,. The language is simple enough for an older child to read, and for an adult to read to younger children. It would be an ideal resource for a pre- school/first school or a home educator. The illustrations are charming and very suitable for the age range. I highly recommend this book!

this is simply a wonderful book which explains the background to the pagan festivals and tells us and our children some lovely stories to illustrate them. it is simple and informative. I wish i had this when my children were little but look forward to revisiting it with my grandchildren when they are the right age.
One for parents and teachers and of course the children themselves.

no nonsense. no sentimentality...just a clear voice telling us it as it is.

Its not quite what I was expecting. It's aimed at teachers who know little of pagan festivals, so there's bumph on each festival for the teacher and then a story to read the children about each of the festivals. The stories, I find are, well, a bit naff, and the suggested activities are prosaic, nothing that can't be found with a simple google search.

I suppose for school setting it gives the very basics of the festivals. Shame it's not presented in a more engaging and lively manner though.

Yule is not celebrated "4 days after the winter solstice, on the 25th of December". Yule IS the winter solstice, the 25th December is the Christian celebration of Christmas.
