When our friends' children were little, someone gave them this book. It has been used in their family every Christmas since and the boys are now 20 and 18yrs old.
They adapted it to fit their needs. Rather than making a banner to hang the symbols on, their mum made the symbols into ornaments and they are hung on the Christmas tree. And over the years that has changed too. They used to place these on the tree with nothing else, in keeping with the Advent season, then on the 24th they would decorate the Christmas Tree with all the other ornaments and turn on the lights. It really brought home the idea of waiting and preparing. Now the family has a separate tree, smaller, that stands in their prayer corner.

What is so amazing is the children's ability to remember the Bible stories just by looking at the symbols. There have been years when the family have got behindhand and not been able to place the ornament on the tree on the correct night. But when they finally were able to place them, their Mum would hold them up and the children would tell the story even though a year had past.
They also have said it is one of the things they want to see every year.
That seems to me the best recommendation: to pass on to you..

Elsewhere, I downloaded free Jesse Tree decorations. This book provided very little useful material.
This is a joyous way to provide a biblical run up to Christmas; search for better material.

A great way to celebrate Christmas. The ornaments were fun to make and clearly tell the story of Christ's birth when used with the accompanying Scripture verses.

HASH(0x9045ea5c) out of 5 stars Let's Make a Jesse Tree 26 Dec. 2008
By M. S. Caward - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book has the history of the Jesse Tree and so much more. The large patterns for the various ornaments were very easy to follow for a mixed age (3-4 5-9) group of sunday school kids. The final result was glorious.
Thanks to a lot of detail in the book.

When Donovan and Ian were little, a CCD Director gave me this book. It has been used in our family every Christmas since and the boys are now 20 and 18yrs old.

HASH(0x902272c4) out of 5 stars Good craft book 6 Aug. 2013

I purchased this book for CCD (Sunday School), however, I realized it was mostly sewing and embroidery. It's a lovely book with great pictures and easy to understand directions; however, I can not use it for my classes. It may be something I can do with my own children.

This is a book with patterns that need to be done by needlework and I never read that anywhere in the description. I will never use this book as I wanted it to be something 7 - 10 year olds could make.
