DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT OR COMPANY
From day 1 this PC has had a fault with the video card, so within the year I sent the machine off for repair with the warranty I had received, fully reinstalled the device to factory settings, Fresh reinstalled OS, and no passwords. 6 weeks later after the PC was shipped off to Germany for repair, I received the PC "repaired" within 1 hour of starting up the machine the same issue occurred again, So I thought to myself this is strange so I dug out the repair slip and discovered this fantastic repair company Re-installed my operating system and this fixed the issue... Certainly looks like.
So I left the pc a few months to see if the issue persists and to gain enough evidence of the issue as possible before getting in touch again with a fresh new warranty I purchased from the website during the repair of my PC.
So now to date this is what is happening.... I got in touch with Lenovo again explaining the issue and how it was not fixed previously, providing evidence and my previous customer repair reference number, for them to reply immediately by saying they are sending me some labels in order to send my pc back to them, 2 more weeks past still no labels so I got in touch again, they apologised for the inconvenience and promised to send another within the day, 2 more weeks past, once again no labels so I got in touch for them to blame me and insist I check my junk folder ( Which I had been previously checking everyday with hope of the labels arriving ), so I email again explaining that It could be an issue with my email provider so I provided another email address for them to send the labels too... No response.
Thank you very much for the help customer service, and repair service I will definitely repair my Video card failure with a OS reinstall in the future...
Finally managed to send the pc off to be repaired under warranty, 2 weeks later the pc comes back... With another operating system reinstall. Fantastic I definitely didn't think about reinstalling my operating system like the instructions say to do as you send it off! So now I'm still stuck with a faulty gpu, and rather than going with the awful manufacturer again I will just fork out for a new gpu.
If I could give negative stars I would. Do not recommend !
Got back in touch with Lenovo, they diagnosed through email that it was clearly a hardware fault. sent off for repair again. two more weeks till I hear back from them. pc returns, first thing I do is read the repair notes
"CHECKED HARD DRIVE" - "NO ISSUES WERE FOUND CHECK YOUR PERIPERAL"
So i turn on my pc again only for the issue to happen almost immediately on all three of my monitors, no mouse or keyboard connected and with them connected, different hdmi cables also.
so I disable the GPU through device manager and use the motherboard one, No issues occur... So it is clearly a faulty gpu. So I request a phone call with lenovo, I phone them up and they get in touch, I explain the issue and request a replacement seen as their awful staff clearly cannot fix a computer, only to be told they cannot replace the device as they haven't seen it, Even though I've sent it three times to them. he then goes onto explaining to me how I need to send the PC for diagnostics to Germany, So I explained I have a busy schedule and need this PC working as Im self employed and need to work and cannot afford to send it away from another two weeks, and questioned whether they could speed it up, which apparently they cannot do.
If you buy this PC and it has a faulty GPU, don't bother sending it to Medion Lenovo, they clearly hire people who think fixing a Graphics card fault is done with an operating system restore and hard drive check, I know toddlers with more experience off a computer than this company.
I highly recommend this PC if you are just starting out and do not yet feel confident on building a custom PC!
My Benq monitor is yet to arrive and I intend to connect a displayport cable between the two devices. For all the gamers, the Lenovo x510 does have displayport and dvi ports so you can achieve +100Hz on your monitor. So far so good, and I will be updating my review when I test the performance and software of this magnificent machine. Also, upgrading components is cookbook easy! I could unscrew the side of the casing with my fingers, slide of the case, and I was in! This looks to be a very promising pc...
However, the packing list sheet states that the desktop has 'Memory(8G)', if this is referring to the computers RAM then that is wrong. Only time will tell when I test the computer. The keyboard and mouse are very nice, but will seem mediocre to someone used to mechanical devices, still a nice bonus.
EDIT: As an update on this review, the desktop has 16GB of RAM, the data sheet must have been a typo.
I'm running the computer on a 144Hz monitor and it really is an amazing piece of kit. I'm not using the mouse and keyboard because I already have a mechanical pair, but I guess they're a good backup.
The only bad news is that I'm very saddened to see the price of the desktop to drop £200 in the space of a couple of weeks. If only I waited a bit longer I could have saved a lot.... This only makes the desktop even more of a bargain!
An additional hard drive can be fitted by simply putting it into a caddy and pushing into a slot. Fitting additional optical drive is simply a "push in" exercise. I use it for photo manipulation and it works superbly. Start up time is minimal. Highly recommended.
Very unhappy with what I received and would like a refund ASAP.
