I might have accepted that sort of performance a few years ago from a budget tab but not now, there are other better tablets on the market for the same money. The build quality seemed good enough, the finish and feel were nice and the screen looked fine; this Lenovo Tab looked to be good on the surface. Once I tested it however, it was frustrating to use.
If you want a screen for viewing films/tv/text, this tab probably isn't a bad option. If you want a tab for games or anything else that requires an accurate and responsive touch screen... I'd look at other options.
I returned mine to the seller without any problem.
I bought this to replace a Nexus 7 which had started freezing and wouldn't boot up and am very pleased with it. I'd rate it higher than the Nexus in just about every way and it also has the option to use SD cards (which the Nexus didn't).
In between the two I bought a cheaper 'no name' 10 inch budget tablet which was a few quid cheaper, but the screen wasn't as good and had very dodgy wifi connectivity. I reckon the Lenovo is a much better buy than either the budget tablet or the Lexus.
The Lenovo has great build quality and is made from a very tactile matt textured plastic that has a high quality feel to it with nicely contoured edges that fits perfectly in the hand (or my hand anyway).
It seems very fast in most apps and there's never been any bother with the screen updating when I'm online watching Sky, which wasn't always the case with either the 1.4G quad budget tablet or the Lexus.
The BATTERY LIFE is OUTSTANDING!
The screen quality is good. Not great, but really good. Also bright enough to work outside, no problem.
Performance - good. The newest games won't run in full detail, but FullHD videos and Web browsing are perfectly responsive.
Additional benefit is that it's not cluttered with bloatware and even the modest 16GB lasts for quite a number of apps of your own choice.
My only grievance is the speaker. Itself it is good and - thankfully! - front-facing! But there's only ONE. The photos along with the Dolby feature would suggest a stereo setup... Sorry, only one speaker. The element on the left is just a plastic mock-up, no grill and no speaker there. In my opinion that's a huuuuge miss, but for the price it is a steal!
The screen is as bad as Gorilla Glass at picking up dust and finger marks. I had thought these were manufactured with Gingerbread (which was brilliant), but this is Android 4.2.2 and not all the good at stuff. These cannot be upgraded to Kitkat without wreck the whole thing, so I'm stuck with it.
I'm a travel blogger and need to cut way down on the weight in my backpack. Using a tablet may be slower than a laptop, but with a super light camera and this I have over 5 lbs less on my back.
Update on this
I have a cheap Chinese tablet that has tons better sensitivity on the screen than this does. Some functions barely work. All it's good for is what most tablets are - toys to play with, but forget about anything serious. A Lenovo firmware upgrade installed a new operating system without my permission and ruined the tablet. It was easy to smash and is now in the trash can.
