This is a light-weight machine, and easy to set-up and use. It comes with Windows 8.1 on it - and is able to download Windows 10 free of charge. The screen is a decent size, and the display is clear and sharp. The battery life is rather good (at about 4 hours). For storing documents and family photos, it's 500 GB hard-drive is very useful. Yet, I've found that it can be slow to turn on, slow to open documents, and - at times - very slow when doing things online.
Given the limitations of this laptop - in terms of it's limited processing power, and slow responses - I've come to use it as a back-up. It's the laptop that I let others borrow if they need to use a computer. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's simply not a great machine. As such, I "like it" because of its price and that it fulfils the tasks I require of it, but it's not a laptop that's pleasing to use. Lenovo do make other, more advanced laptops (I also use a Lenovo G780 17.3-inch with 8GB RAM and 1TB HDD - which is a joy to use) and I do recommend the brand.
So, overall, whether this laptop is the right one for you depends on what you intend to use it for ...
For that price, this laptop is great. It is not very fast - can be bogged down even web browsing. Would also probably avoid doing any serious work on it. But for watching media, web browsing, writing emails, it does the job, and has the major benefit of a 15.6 inch screen. Having also owned smaller netbook style units, the celeron processor, while poor compared to a proper pentium processor, is much better than the 'atom' processors in netbooks, and having 4GB of ram also makes a big difference compared to 1 or 2 GB found in netbooks.
So, to conclude - if you can get one for less than £150 - totally recommend.
If you are also considering spending a similar amount of money on a netbook style 11 inch laptop - this is a much better option.
I would not consider paying nearly £300 for this unit though, which I think is the RRP.
Screws fall out for no apparent reason. Mousepad screws around going in and out randomly. The casing is now being ripped apart every time I open the lid. Have had this piece of crap just over a year (conveniently out of warranty) and will never buy Lenovo again. Such poor quality.
