EXCELLENT book. Really clearly written and the excitement that is P2P comes through loud and clear. Anyone who is looking to invest in P2P and want to know how The Lending Club works should read this book. Peter Renton is an absolute authority on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Lending Club Story is a winner. 2 Dec. 2012
By Mark Lusky - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
"The Lending Club Story" by Peter Renton is a winner. It provides ample useful information for present and prospective peer-to-peer investors and borrowers; all while telling the story of the industry's premier lender in a way that captures and keeps the reader's attention. Even though I'm not yet involved in the peer-to-peer industry, I found the book an excellent primer for further exploration. If I were Lending Club, I'd support and promote this book like crazy. Good job!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Guide to Lending Club and Investing 9 Nov. 2012
By mphill - Published on Amazon.com

Peter did a great job detailing the history of Lending Club in this book. Learning the motivation for why P2P platforms like Lending Club and Prosper were created can help new investors understand what P2P lending is, and how it might make sense for their portfolio.

The pace of the book is what I would consider great, and it's easy to follow even if you have limited investing experience. Although I am not on the borrower side, Peter makes a point include interviews with borrowers. It was rewarding to see how investors are making a positive impact on people's lives when banks are typically reluctant to do so.

From an investor perspective, Peter will take you though all the steps needed to start investing and much more. He also offers strategic advice on how to put together an investment strategy using several analytical website resources. He does not tell you how to invest exactly, but will recommend the tools to deploy capital in an intelligent way.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Author Worth Following 19 Dec. 2012
By Terry Peterson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I've been following Peter Renton's LendAcademy.com blog for roughly a year now. Through various investing strategies and tools I would not have known about if not for him (including 'the now defunct' LendStats, Prosper-Stats.com, EricsCC.com, and InterestRadar.com to name a few) I have become a relatively successful P2P investor. I run 3 Prosper accounts (cash, my IRA, my wife's IRA) as well as a Lending Club account. I average about 15% across all four accounts.

While Peter's book is not a "hear's how to make money" tutorial, if you want to be successful in the P2P arena you need to "know the ins and outs", "the devil's in the details", "throw in your own cliche here". Follow his work and you will know more about P2P lending, period. Peter is incredibly active in the community of P2P lending. He regularly reposts and/or responds to my own blog posts on ProsperToRetire.com, and even helped publicize one of my P2P lending tools BidCopy at NumberWhale.com.

It sounds like I'm just tossing around URL's, but it's to show that Peter is very active and heavily involved. He knows what's going on in the P2P market. When Prosper recently made a controversial blog post about changing the data they would make publicly available to researchers/developers (changing XML to CSV), he and I were immediately emailing each other and Prosper for answers. Albeit, Peter demands a response from Prosper better than I :)

Word has it he will be publishing a similar Prosper Story in 2013 which I look forward to reading as well. He writes in an easy-to-understand language which can be challenging for the writer when you're speaking of percentages, investments, returns, etc. Read his book, read his blog ...then read my blog :) ..., have fun investing, make money. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent analysis of a financing phenomenon 9 Nov. 2012
By SteveS - Published on Amazon.com

I've been dabbling in Lending Club for a couple of years now, and have followed Peter's excellent blog posts since he began watching the p2p industry. This book is a concise encapsulation of the Lending Club phenomenon from its inception, and offers many valuable tips and techniques as well.

If you're even vaguely interested in the rapid evolution of p2p lending, or are looking for an easy way to get expert insight in how Lending Club works, Peter's book is a must-read. It is comfortably pitched at the average reader rather than financial wonks, with minimal jargon and lots of useful information in a format that won't take you weeks to plow through. Excellent job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little book 30 Jan. 2014

If for nothing else, It helped me in finding out that there's an actual "U-Haul Investment Club" - check it out.

Also, from a borrower, you can request loans for just about anything - not just debt consolidation, or small business loans, etc.

One guy requested a loan, so he could finish his private helicopter license courses.
