Just a beautiful book with wonderful photos of the great clubs and their courses, to say nothing of imbibing info.
It just confirms that a great club must always have a great course.

5.0 out of 5 stars A PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK MEANT TO BE READ 3 Dec. 2013
By CCCGOLFUSA - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
The photographs draw you in and the narrative provides rich detail regarding club members, their surroundings, and history. The contrast between stateside golf and the traditions of the old world are illustrated well. Many of the photographs capture the casual formality of club participation in the British Isles. "Coat and tie required" is portrayed accurately in rumpled tweed and pint in hand. Not a single course landscape is marred by cart paths or "buggies". Enjoyment of the game is enshrined in a brisk walk with a bag over the shoulder. Anyone who has enjoyed golf at one of these clubs deserves a copy of this book to rekindle great memories---and those who have not yet gone over should get one to fuel the dream.

This is a magnificent book, well-written and beautifully photographed. Much more than just a coffee table book, it deserves to be read through and through.

Fantastic book, very high quality publication. Feels like you are at the courses. I have played several of these courses and this is next best thing to going and playing. You really get a feel for what it is like playing in the British Isles. Highly recommended.
4.0 out of 5 stars Legendary Golf Clubs of Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland 30 July 2004
By V. Kollarik - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is great for those of us who are unable to "cross the pond" and see such extraordinary golf clubs. The photography is amazing and really brings the viewer on location. The section on Angus Guberman, scottish golf champion, was the most insightful ever written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please read it too. 18 Dec. 1999
By David - Published on Amazon.com

Much can be said about the spectacular photography. But to capture the real beauty of the golf clubs, you need to read the text. For all of us who have enjoyed a pint in a dirty bar, this book captures the essence of the gentility of the game.
