About the author

Piggyback started in 1999 with the 148-page guide to Metal Gear Solid. Twenty-four years later, we find ourselves releasing the 500-page official guide to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in five languages and across four continents. In that 24-year period, we selected one game every year or so and invested all of our resources into creating its exclusive, complete official guide. We have the industry’s largest guide development team, composed of authors, designers, translators, map, screenshot and functionality editors.
Each new Piggyback project presents opportunities for innovation; be those chapter concepts, gameplay flowcharts, imaging technologies, data tables, no-spoiler solutions, instant-search tools, custom layouts, enhanced production values and new editions (collector’s, deluxe, expanded, and digital). Through close collaboration with the game company, each of our books becomes a tangible display of everything in the game, a collector’s item that serves as a companion which showcases the gameplay, creativity, and vision of the team.

More helpful are the other six major chapters of the guide - the Primer gives you a rundown of the game's mechanics and some universal tactics and strategic advice that will make the first few hours of gameplay a much smoother experience (and includes some tips that even late-game players may benefit from). Chapters for Shrines and Sidequests tell you where to find every shrine and how to access and solve them, and where to unlock every sidequest and how to complete them. The Extras chapter covers minigames, secrets, boss-like enemies, non-sidequest missions, and probably a couple of other things. The Bestiary gives you a rundown of every enemy type in the game - sample locations, potential item drops, and tips for approaching them. And the Inventory chapter gives you stats for every item (including the hidden durability stat) - including some unlocked by using Amiibo that haven't yet been released - and includes a fairly detailed rundown of how cooking works.
In other words, all the details that you could only get out of the game with months of analysis are right there on the page for you, along with a friendly explanation of what they mean and why they might matter to you.
And all of this comes with Piggyback's usual excellent presentation and attention to detail.
I came across this guide when a friends daughter showed me hers and after a little read I thought this was just a nice book to have just like my hyrule historia weather you use it for the game or not but after having time reading through it I realised how much more there is to the game.
OK to the point this book has everything you need from basic controls till the guide for the main game, and also has a map inside which shows every korok and shrine locations along with every item you can find in the game and the properties they hold, every item of clothing and their upgrade properties, easter eggs, even has a list of locations that are in past zelda which most I already know but some after I read them I'd say toy self "oh yeah cool"
I would advise if you get the guide is please try and do as much of the game alone and enjoy the adventure as much as you can as this is a game I believe you can get lost in and admire the work that has been put into it and just do as I do use the guide for references.
When I started using this book, I realised every single penny was incredibly well spent. This book is a 'must' for anyone who is serious about completing Breath of The Wild (as in to 100%, all sidequests, all the best items etc.). I've been using online guides for my Zelda games for a long time now, and good ones too. But to compare the two's wealth of knowledge and (most importantly, in my opinion) the ability to convey that knowledge in a way that "every" reader can understand (newbie or no) would be laughable. This book has outdone every Zelda guide I've read and bought online (Prima included) and I couldn't recommend it enough for a true lover of the new open world Hyrule adventure.
