I saw this series when it was originally televised and I taped most of the episodes and kept them. I just can't understand why it has taken so long for it to be released on DVD. Perhaps it wasn't all that well known. When I received the DVD, I sat and watched all seven episodes in one go on the same day and there were places where I just couldn't stop laughing. Definitely one of the funniest shows ever on TV and all the parts are played brilliantly. Many times over the last few years I have eagerly searched for this comedy series in vain, and when it suddenly appeared on Amazon I pre-ordered it. Anyone who likes the Brittas Empire will certainly enjoy this. There is an excellent mix of characters who are all funny in their own way. I can't single any one of them out. They are all brilliant. To make such a funny comedy out of something as dull as a solicitors office takes a bit of doing, but all the people who produced this programme succeeded spectacularly. Anyone who watches it will not see solicitors in the same light again. I'll probably be watching these episodes many times over. Anyone with a sense of humour will not be disappointed. My only criticism would be that it's a pity there weren't subtitles for people like me whose hearing isn't as good as it was. I hope the second series comes out soon. I can't wait.

AT LAST this excellent First Series is available on DVD. Good mix of characters - Stella tries desperately to keep the office ticking over and is the only one who really does any work! Dick, the boss, sips sherry and plays golf, Colin (new recruit) is very pleasant but accident prone and everything he touches goes wrong including accidentally killing a client soon after he joins. Alison the secretary is bored, has trouble keeping awake during office hours and can't really type or spell. Bob is married but infatuated with Sarah the young girl from "Mr Bappy" and has a desk full of uneaten baps. Then there's Darren the young office boy...well see for yourself!! May sound a bit boring but it is actually very funny and well worth watching. I read somewhere that they made three series in total so let's hope they at least bring out Series 2 VERY SOON!!!

While this is not a belly laugh a minute series, it does have some wonderfully funny moments and the characters are a bunch of very well written eccentrics. Perhaps not a classic, but certainly better than a lot of the rubbish which passes as comedy these days.

Started off slowly, but the characters are developed in a quite accomplished way, and by the end we were following this amusing series for the laughs available. Odd that the DVD says it is the 'complete series' as it appeared to us to be 3 separate series, so good value for money. Overall, better than many series on TV, if not up there with the best.

My husband and I love this show and we quote it all the time for the past 10 years since we first saw it. We were very excited to hear it finally came out on DVD! We were watching a taped version off the TV to get our fix and now we have it on DVD and finally high quality.

We have seen a lot of British comedies but if I had to pick just one to watch over again this one would be it. Too bad that there were only three seasons of the show.
