About the Author

HR Moore is an exciting new author who grew up reading books including Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, The Hunger Games and pretty much every book Wilbur Smith ever wrote. She writes for people like her, people who crave indulgence, escapism and romance, her debut novel 'Legacy of the Mind' receiving much critical acclaim. She was born in Germany, and having lived in Dorset, Aberdeenshire, Devon, Fife and London, she now lives with her husband and daughter in South Hertfordshire, where, when she's not reading, writing, or imagining how much better life would be with the addition of a springer spaniel, she enjoys cooking, taking photos, and making hats.

Legacy has filled a hole in my life while I impatiently await the publication of the final book in the All Souls Trilogy and from the end of Harry Potter and the Twilight series.

Legacy is a fantastic read, I couldn't put the book down as I simply had to know what was going to happen next. This book is full of intrigue and excitement. The characters are like-able, interesting and their interaction with each other is very real which is a refreshing change.

You can't help but identify with the heroine, Anita and despite her brilliance, H R Moore has done an excellent job of making sure that you sympathise with Anita and admire her strength rather. H R Moore has created a female character who goes against the norm for this genre which usually presents the heroine as clingy and constantly waiting for the hero to come and rescue her. As for the men in the book, it's hard to decide who I love more.

A great read and would recommend to anyone who enjoyed Harry Potter, A Discovery of Witches, Twilight and The Historian. Bring on the next installment!

Firstly, thank you to the author, H. R. Moore, and YA Bound Book Tours for providing me with a review copy of this book. Then, I want to say that I really, really liked this book and will definitely (at some point) continue on with the series. I waited too long to write this review to gush, so this will perhaps be a bit stale, but nevertheless, these are my thoughts on Legacy of the Mind by H. R. Moore, a New Adult Fantasy novel. (It is pretty much clean though, people seem to always think NA is sexual and not necessarily. I recommend this post by Cristina @My Tiny Obsessions.)

Next order of business is to address something that might put people off of the book. A commonly loathed trope: the love shape (no, it’s not a triangle, that would imply each loving someone else and besides there are more than three people in it). The love shape in this book works. It works because its realistic, no one is led on, there are no dramatic misunderstandings and any shift in the relationships happen for a realistic, justifiable and understandable reason, not just because some guy took his shirt off and the protagonist thought he was hotter or some other such nonsense. I also like certain parts about each of the love interests, although I do definitely have a favourite which remained the same from the beginning to the end of the novel.

Which brings me to my next point: this book gives a good perspective on how to deal with an emotionally abusive or toxic relationship.

When I first started reading Legacy I was immediately intrigued by the characters and wanted to know more. Once you start reading it is difficult to stop as you become immersed and want to know more! Can't wait for the next book and to read more about Anita! This book is incredibly well written and everyone I have spoken to who has read it has felt the same way. There is something for everyone in this book filled with action, romance and a rather alternate world that some days I wish I was a part of!

I've just read a book written by a very talented lady. Loved it and finished it in 3 days to the disgust of my family as I was so antisocial. Now the wait for book 2 to follow. If you are one of "those who grew up reading fantasy such as Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, Twilight and The Hunger Games. It's for those who want something similarly fantastical and escapist, but equally want something marginally more mature" Definitely recommend reading Legacy by HR Moore. Just brilliant!!

As a Bas character, I do hope that he is not killed off in the next book ala Game of Thrones as it would make me sad.

This statement tells you all you need to know about the book; i love the characters and exceedingly keen for book 2 to come out. I think it's written well (not that i'm a great judge) and entices you along from page to page and chapter to chapter.
It was relaxing as a reader to be transported you away to a fictional land that is surprisingly easy to understand - after the first few pages when i had the epiphany that it was a semi-fantasy novel. However, this was not at all to its detriment and gave me interesting thoughts when i was not reading the book.
To my eye there is no difference in quality of the story or writing compared with something of The Hunger Games' ilk; and when finished it would probably make 3 very nice, watchable films.

Keep writing them :)

Edward

I was introduced to Legacy through word of mouth and was initially sceptical of whether the book would be a good fit for me. Thankfully, any doubts quickly vanished after reading the first chapter.

The author's clever imagination transports you into a new Empire --a place of fantasy that is inhabited by a group of unique and highly likeable characters. I am not personally a big fan of science fiction, but like other addictive series (such as Hunger Games, Twilight, and Mortal Instruments), the fantasy enhances the changing relationships between characters, and adds intrigue to the plot.

For a new author, Legacy is a confident debut novel that succeeds in creating clever fiction that is as enjoyable as it is engaging. I happily lost a Sunday afternoon to the first instalment, and will be recommending it to friends as this book deserve recognition!
