How wonderful it is that these recordings of Dinu Lipatti are now available to a new generation thanks to technical advances.
His mastery is superb; every single note is played perfectly, and his Chopin has such a delicacy of touch.Bach just flows from his fingers and I have never heard the partitas played so well. His technical mastery of the Scarlatti and Mozart is admirable, but all pieces have one thing in common - the indefinable touch of genius and perfection which can move you to tears that only Dinu Lipatti can produce.

This is wonderful! An excellent re-mastering of the old HMV Angel label. This is a man I met, very briefly, in 1951, when he spent time at the Royal Academy of Music, where I was a student. We played the piano together and he taught me how to make Bach and Scarlatti sound like music from heaven. He was the only pianist who could actually make a piano 'sing' This set brings back memories of the short but amazing week of our friendship. There will never be another.

HASH(0x8d938e58) out of 5 stars Limpid freshness, flawless fingering, subtle lyricism, peerless tunefulness! 11 July 2008
By Hiram Gòmez Pardo Venezuela - Published on Amazon.com
The existence of Lipatti signed by an undeserved fatality, proved he was utterly the most extraordinary pianist of his generation. Nobody like him will play the Partita No. 1, Chopin's Waltzes or Chopin's Sonata No. 3 like he did.

His precision was organically perfect, which means twice perfect. There's no single mistake around any single piece he played. His interpretations are hovered by a cosmic vision and astonishing profundity.

Far away any process of exhibitionism, there is a visible solemnity and sincere wish to go further the origin of the score. Whether Bach, Schubert, Chopin, Mozart or Scarlatti, he always understood with absolute masterful, the last significance of the music.

Every time I listen him, I am conveyed to unexploited horizons, and that gift belongs to just a few.

December 2, 1950 was the mournful day his eyes closed forever.

Long life for that unforgettable genius of the keyboard.
