Format: Kindle Edition
David Hough has written a compelling, well-researched book which grips the imagination from start to finish. He seamlessly interweaves the tragedy of religious struggles, both in the 17th century and recent times, as twin sisters, separated by circumstance, are now brought together in uneasy alliance. The gritty, raw brutality of Sorcha's life in the pubs and alleys of Belfast is far distant from the gentle, even repressed, upbringing of Rose, who worries if her paintwork is scratched. How can the two ever find common ground? As the story of their family unfolds across the centuries, they learn the truth behind tales of Warlock Hill. They learn, too, from the suffering, of body and conscience, of ancestors who lived and died there. There is so much to this story but the writer never loses sight of the main characters, their hopes, their dreams, their misfortunes, and times of happiness.
