They are fun to play!

I was really pleased with this purchase. Despite having played harmonica for a few years, this was my first serious venture into alternative tunings, and I must say I'm pretty impressed! In making the Lee Oskar range, Tombo Corporation have taken a fairly solid harmonica design with good response and airtightness, and slapped a pretty brilliant endorsement on it. But to their credit, they have used this combination to also put out some exciting alternative tunings, four including the "ordinary" Major Diatonic. If you are a beginner, I would advise sticking with the Major Diatonic until you have a reliable second position technique, but confident second position players will take to the Natural Minor straight away, This is because the minor key labelled (in this case Gm) is actually the second position key. This makes sense, because you play in the minor key as you would ordinarily play blues harp, with all the expression you are used to for blues harp. Fire up a playalong or backing track for minor blues in G and you'll get the idea pretty quickly. The minor blues is a somewhat neglected but excitingly expressive sound, and while chromatic players might miss some notes on that scale (at least unless they have very advanced diatonic technique), it's a really great sound to be able to play on harmonica. Add to this the ability to play along to minor songs, and you have a definite winner. Highly recommended!

Having Fun Learning Minor Harp
on 30 March 2013 - Published on Amazon.com
Hey Guys, Okie Fats here. I purchased a few Lee Oscars in a few of my favorite keys except I got them in Natural Minor. I wanted to try playing a minor harp in 2nd position instead of a regular harp in 1st or 5th position. Well, trust me, it isn't as easy as Lee Oscar makes it look! I'm having fun but there is definitely a learning curve! In case you didn't know LO harps are made by Tombo. They are good quality, sound good, have replaceable reed plates, and come in really cool hard cases that lock together. They might be a little pricey for the quality but not enough to loose sleep over. The cool thing is you can get a Lee Oscar in just about any tuning you can think of. Check out the Lee Oscar web site for a wealth of information about tunings and harp playing. I also have a couple in regular keys and enjoy playing them. They're not going to replace my Special 20s or custom Marine Bands though. Go ahead and give them a try. You'll like them. Order a freaky tuning and have some fun challenging yourself. Be careful though. They are all labeled in 2nd position so if you want to play cross in B, instead of grabbing an E harp, you would grab a Lee Oscar in B. 1st position is labeled on the other end of the harp. It makes sense when you see it. Just check out his web site. Most of all, Have some FUN! Okie Fats Out!

Reeds are a bit whacky
on 14 June 2011 - Published on Amazon.com
This is a decent harp and its nice to have a minor harp for some songs, but I expected a little better playability for the price. My Hohner's play a lot better and the bends are more reliable and predictable. Maybe these guys buy cheap harps and then put a known name on them? I don't know, but the bang for the buck is not so hot.
Natural minor cool!

Never a problem with Harmonica from amazon.com I dig this, and other Lee Oscars except moustache gets caught under the cover. Once it happened on Hohner Marine Bands, not lately!
