I wouldn't be without this book. At the time of writing, I'm six weeks in to PGCE, and this book has informed four Journal entries, a week of lesson observations and all my lesson plans.

The chapter on teaching in the target language was practical and undogmatic - it's been incredibly useful.

Highly recommended.

Thorough, readable and really very useful. Of course, as with any text book on teaching, with so many changes to curriculum and recognised 'good practice' it will soon be out of date, but for now the best I've found.

The most useful resource I came across during my PGCE year. I would not have been without this book. Invest in this book, even if you only purchase one book during your studies I would highly recommend this to be the one you buy!

The book has every single "ffl", "ff" and "fl" missing from the entire book. Amazon refused to fix this for me and told me their entire stock has the same problem.

Do not buy this from Amazon, find it elsewhere. It's really annoying when you try and read it, it becomes very distracting.
