This book provides a very simple and gentle introduction to learning jogl. There is a great deal of information in this book, and you will be surprised at how quickly you will be creating your very own jogl applications. An absolute must for anyone interested in learning jogl. Hooray for Gene Davis!

This book is excellent at teaching beginners. It starts off with basic features and recaps on java that is needed e.g. mouselistener. It teaches various things like animation, 3D, lighting, textures in an understandable way. It adds one new feature at a time to slowly build you up to a level where you can create your own jOGL applications. All new features are fully explained and diagrams are included.

The only problem is that jOGL has recently been updated so you will need to access the jOGL forums for up to date information, the links to the needed websites are also included in the book.

If you want to learn jOGL, I would definitely recommend getting this book.

This book is too old. The examples are not working in current versions of OpenGL/JOGL and it's almost impossible to track down and use the libraries he uses in the book.

Update: If you manage to get current versions of JOGL running this book is actually OK as an introduction to openGL in Java. The code examples have to be changed a bit but the following tutorials should make it possible to follow the book:
