Good value 2CD example of Jesse Winchester's earlier work. I didn't discover him till a few years ago but what a great, warm voice. There is a timeless quality to his songs that is very appealing and the unfussy arrangements allow the songs to breathe. Jesse is a great craftsman of songwriting and that voice could probably make the simplest song sound special.

5.0 out of 5 stars He was quite prolific during his career but I especially like his earlier work 23 April 2016

I have been a Jesse Winchester for more than half of my life. He was quite prolific during his career but I especially like his earlier work. I have always admire him for the courage of his convictions in choosing to leave the US rather than accept the Selective Service option. It's too bad he couldn't have remained in this country as he would probably have been much more well-known. For those of us who are familiar with his work, he will be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars who could console and one I would come to love to listen to 29 Nov. 2014

I found Jessie back in the late 1970's when I needed a special kind of friend...one who could inspire, who could console and one I would come to love to listen to. His lyrics cover the gamut complete with a chuckle or two and his music is varied. Sometimes bluesy, sometimes melodic and sometimes he just kicks it. Great stuff.

Knew of him back in the 70's but never bought any of his stuff. What a fool I was. Really nice, sensitive, writer.

Jesse Winchester was a marvel and I miss him terribly even while listening to his wonderful music. This album was like the rest, a slice of life.
