My 4 year old was given this by her grandparents for Christmas. She loves her Tag pen already so any new books are a bonus in our house. She loves the fact that Olivia is quite similar to her in a lot of ways (never wants to go to bed, always on the go and full of attitude!) and the fact that when I plug it in to the computer she gets rewards for playing the games that are in the book.
Now she wants the Disney Princess book to add to the collection and I can only hope that it keeps her as entertained as the Olivia book has. With the way my daughter's collection of books is growing I hope they bring out more books this year especially as I've heard the ones she's got far too many times already!
Strangely this book doesn't just keep my daughter amused but my friends have all had a go with it, it keeps them quiet for ages too!

The cover illustration was appealling, but inside there was little to recommend. A very weak story, of minimal appeal to children with little scope for repeat readings. There are many great children's books out there but this is not one of them..a real bargain bucket, written in a rush load of rubbish. Minimalist use of a superficially cute character does not make a book. I expected much more - especially if LeapFrog had cherry picked the best for the their limited range.

3.0 out of 5 stars It had great potential 21 Jan. 2010

We have several Tag books, and love them all. So I was quiet eager to get the Oliva book. It's the same book you get from the library.....with no extra games in the back. I was really expecting it to be more, hands on, and ineresting (like the Pirate book or Up). Like the tv show. It had such great potential to teach about art, music, dancing or different emotions. Instead, it asks who made the sand castle and who does Olivia need to be firm with? Plus, my son was highly disappointed that the characters sounded nothing like what was on the show! And when you touch any of the characters, their voices sound more like the Charlie Brown adults than real people. My son actually wants to send the book back for a different one. Glad it's in our collection, but I don't think it will be "read" as frequently as the other books. :(
3.0 out of 5 stars Not the TV Version Olivia 25 Aug. 2012

I bought this book for my 5yr old daughter, who loves watching Olivia on TV. Needless to say she was very dissapointed when the voices of the characters in the book were nothing like those on the TV episodes. I don't think she has bothered to even pick it up since. It's a pretty good book if your reader doesn't care that the voices aren't the same (and some aren't even understandable at all.. the parent's sound like the teacher from Peanuts).

As a former teacher, I was hoping that my 4 year old granddaughter would enjoy this book.
Sharing the name Olivia with the book character is of great importance to my granddaughter.
I was pleasantly surprised that she loved the book, reading and rereading it for about 1 hour the first time she used it. She is now reading some of the more common words, just 2 weeks after receiving it and the Tag reading system.
