Firstly, this does the job. It makes very good coffee and I use it every day. I am surprised at the reviewer who couldn't taste the difference between coffee made in this and coffee made in a cafetiere. I guess we all have different tastebuds.

Having said that it does the job, be warned: this pot is rather cheap and nasty. Compared with a good brand like Bialetti it is poorly finished and has a tacky feel. It is too small to sit on a standard gas hob (unlike the 3 cup Bialetti which does sit on my hob) and so if you cook by gas you'll almost certainly find yourself having to spend out another fiver to get a hob ring reducer.

I very much wish I'd paid out more and got the Bialetti which my son has (now sadly taken to university with him, which is how I came to buy this cheap and nasty coffee maker).

First of all, the maxim "you get what you pay for" definitely springs to mind. Many reviewers are saying that this caffettiera is "cheap and nasty" to look at. They are right. It looks a tad tacky too when you get up close and personal with it.

However, looks aside, this coffee maker makes an excellent espresso. It works just as well as the Bialetti caffetteria, and the only reason why I bought this was because I accidentally destroyed my Bialetti one day when I forgot to put water in it. Mine works fine on a standard gas stove, so I'm not sure why others with a gas stove are having issues. It also seems to percolate twice as fast as my late Bialetti, without compromising taste - not sure what's going on, but I'm not complaining.

I rate this item 4/5 - it loses one star for its tacky looks. But it makes a great espresso so I'm definitely happy; and since most of my friends have never even used one of these things before, they all think it's an attractive item!

I purchased this product as it was identified as being able to be used on an Induction Hob. This was the second coffee maker ordered from Amazon which stated suitable for Induction. The first one was sent back, and this one in turn had to be returned, after reading the box and speaking to Kitchen Craft, who confirmed that the item was NOT SUITABLE FOR INDUCTION HOBS. For anyone looking to buy an expresso coffee maker, do not buy a Kitchen Craft, as they have informed me, they do not have an item that is compatible with Induction. As per my last review, anyone wishing to be clear of what can be used, place a magnet on the bottom of a pan etc., if it sticks, its suitable, if not it will ruin your Induction Hob.

Well folks, I have to admit it I had been unfair with the seller writing a bad report because of the delivery (a little misunderstanding with the courier.. solved anyway) and I am now here to square things.
    Cons of this machine:
Not a great quality of metal, machine poorly built, poor quality of the seal (transparent gaskets are not the best ones to put in a moka) , but hey, two of them in the package! yes, they put a spare one. That's good. Longer life for your moka.
Although advertised as a 3-coffee machine it does not make more then 2 espresso-bar cups (original ones, very small, Italian size.. not British which is slightly larger).
    Pros:
Nice packaging (even instructions were there.. I guess being Italian makes that laughable though.. we don't need instructions for that.. anyway, not everybody is Italian!).
It does usually take a couple of weeks at least for any moka/ manual espresso machine in order to lose the metallic/plastic taste from the factory and start to make a decent coffee, but hey, took to this one only four coffees to get the best espresso (and you can trust me on that.. again, Italian, and very picky when it comes to espresso..) tasted in months.
Tips to make excellent espresso with this machine:
    - Make the first two boils with water only (and.. trick: cinnamon and then basil in the water...I know..weird)
    - Get the right amount of coffee in the filter,
    - Press it properly (with a sugar spoon)
    - not too much water in the boiler (fill up till touching the valve)
    - NEVER wash the machine with soap!!! only water, .. though it would be best if you use it daily not to wash it at all)
    - Get the first jet for your first espresso .. the second cup will suck big time!)
    - Prepare sugar-coffee cream before (with the first jet of a previous machine) and add gradually coffee and twist
    Cheers and Enjoy!

P.S. Only 4 out of 5 because of the poor quality of the gastket.

The thing you have to remember is that this is an EXPRESSO coffee maker so, when it says "Three Cup" that means three expresso cups - were not talking mugs here, wher talking thimbles!. This three expresso cup coffee maker does that, makes three small expresso cups or enough for a small mug for one. It makes a superb cup of coffee. My wife doesn't like strong coffee I do. I whap some milk in the microwave and she has one expresso shot and I fill the cup with the hot milk, that's a latte for madame - I have the double shot of expresso. Sorted. This is cheaper that other makes and does the job - makes superb coffee.

There is a certain ritual that this product invokes when making an expresso. I am no expert when it comes to coffee, but this method of making an expresso was introduced to me by a French colleague. I have had machines that have made, quite frankly, poor expressos, so to have something that makes an excellent shot with something that doesn't take up any worktop space is great. Also comes with a spare seal.
