This book was originally written in the 1920s and quite a bit has changed, since then, when it comes to the maintenance of turf. In particular, I strongly disagree with the author about the benefits of earthworms in fine turf. Centre Court at Wimbledon or the square at Lord's would be disaster areas if they were covered with worm casts. So, all in all, this book should be regarded as a chapter of history rather than an up to date instruction manual.
