Review

LASTNIGHT inhabits Dennis Wheatley territory - but with a supercharged plot so hard-boiled that it could crack concrete. (Daily Mail)

A disturbing, blood-chilling read from a writer at the top of his game (Sunday Express)

A wicked read (Anthony Horowitz)

A creeping sense of evil (Daily Mail)

In brisk newman's style he explores complex contemporary issues while keeping the action fast and bloody. (Economist)

Wow. I thought the fourth was good, and I did hope for a fifth, and I got it.
Jack is so good and he makes you believe in what he is up against, even if you do not want to believe in the supernatural.
Well worth missing a few hours sleep for.

A killer is murdering Goths with brutal relish – skinning and butchering them. The cops aren’t getting anywhere, so Jack Nightingale’s nemesis, Superintendent Chalmers, asks him for help.

So another adventure for Jack Nightingale and as usual it was fast paced, brilliant, often dark but offset with ironic humour and the most fun you are likely to have with a book for a while.

In this instalment, after all the work Jack has put in to make his world right again, he is in for a bit of a rollercoaster ride of doom. After he is cajoled and pretty much threatened into helping the indomitable Superintendent Chalmers work out who might have it in for the local goth community he finds himself caught up in old grudges and in a heck of a lot of trouble.

What I adore most about these books is that Stephen Leather NEVER lets his characters or his world stagnate – you are never exactly sure where he will take you or Jack and it gives the whole series a fresh feel with every single novel. Every single time I finish one of these I immediately want more and that was especially true at the end of this one – How can I wait? Its cruel and unusual punishment…

I love this series with a fiery vengeance. Like “Supernatural” on acid, it always take me on a fascinating, endlessly compelling, terrifically terrifying and never ever dull journey to the dark side. More please. As soon as possible.

Happy Reading Folks!

Another brilliant chapter of Jack's very complicated life, well executed by Mr Leather.
I love how Jack's life gets darker and he gets more desperate and despite seemingly wanting a simple life, he only goes and makes it even more complicated! The humour it brings adds to the character and makes the darkness a little lighter.
The story is well told and leaves you wanting to know what happens next!
I can't wait for the next one!

Another fantastic story from Stephen Leather, in the Jack Nightingale series.
I was hooked from page one.
I really hope there is a follow up to this as the plot thickens as the pages turn.
Definitely not one to miss.

I Love the style of Stephen Leathers writing. I have loved supernatural thrillers all my life from my early teens. The plots are well thought out, my only complaint is that this one has finished. I have read all the previous 4 of this series and all are brilliant. I look forward to more.....? Please?

There were moments in book 5 - Lastnight - when it seemed that the author was struggling to make it all work out, but I think he did it beautifully ! The books could be viewed as stand-alone, but they really need to be read in sequence, so that the development of the main characters can be fully appreciated - and the characters are delightful . . . I look forward to more short stories featuring Jack Nightingale, since I cannot at the moment see how a Book 6 could be forthcoming - but there again, I am not a brilliant author !

EXCELLENT read I got it at midnight waited up for it to be released on the 16th and finished it on the 19 th. I have a almost 2 year old active boy. And when I got the chance I was reading could not put it down like all of Stephen Leathers books.

I was always left thinking ohhhh what is happening now I have to get back to it. Especially when you read the first few pages then you have to get to the end to find out what happened and you just thin it can't be there must be a mistake. If you have read any of the Jack nightingale books then you have to read this one.

Loved it
Can't wait for more books if there is more there has got to be 5 is just not enough
