Excellent album, so far, after a dozen or so listens it really shows that the "old" guys can still make great new exciting music! Bobby sounds great! My favorite tracks are Windmills and Chimes, Everything is Turning To Night, Into the Ground, 8 and Horseman!

THE ONLY PENTAGRAM ALBUM I HAD BEFORE THIS WAS "RELENTLESS", WITH THE CLASSIC "SIGN OF THE WOLF".AS THAT TRACK WAS SO SUPERIOR TO THE OTHER TRACKS,(ALTHOUGH THEY WERE ALSO GOOD), I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS ALBUM TO BE MORE THEN JUST GOOD, AND WAS HOPING FOR ANOTHER CUT LIKE "SIGN OF THE WOLF", BOY WAS I WRONG,THIS ALBUM IS EXCELLENT, "TREAT ME RIGHT" BLASTS OUT LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN SABBATH'S "HOLE IN THE SKY" AND W.A.S.P'S "NEVER SAY DIE",IN YOUR FACE AND NO MESSING,"CALL THE MAN" FOLLOWS, MELODIC AND BLUESY WITH BOBBY RECALLING HIS DEMONS IN THE LYRICS,"INTO THE GROUND" HAS A BIG SABBATHY RIFF, AND THEN FOLLOWS POSSIBLY THE ALBUM'S BEST TRACK "EVERYTHINGS TURNING TO NIGHT", SLOW AND VERY MELODIC,VICTOR'S GUITAR SOLOING ON THIS TRACK IS ONE OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD,"WINDMILLS AND CHIMES", VERY DIFFERENT THEN OTHER PENTAGRAM TRACKS WITH A HENDRIX FEEL TO IT. BOBBY'S VOCALS ARE OUTSTANDING THROUHOUT,WITH A DANZIG LIKE STYLE TO THEM.I THINK THE 2 BIGGEST DIFFENCES BETWEEN THIS RELEASE AND "RELENTLESS", IS THAT THERE IS MORE GUITAR SOLOING AND THAT THIS IS OF OUTSTANDING QUALITY,ITS ALSO MUCH MORE MELODIC AND VARIED.THIS IS ANOTHER ALBUM VERY INFLUENCED BY SABBATH IN RIFFING AND GUITAR BREAKS AND BOBBY STILL DOES HIS YEAH'S REMINECENT OF OZZY'S.FOR FANS OF SABBATH, WITCHFINDER GENERAL, REVERENT BIZZARE AND OTHER MELODIC DOOMY BANDS, THIS IS A CRACKER, PENTAGRAM HAVE MOVED UP A LEAGUE,BUY THIS NOW,IT MAYBE THE BEST ALBUM THE BAND WILL EVER MAKE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than ever, album of the year candidate. 12 April 2012

Wow is all I can say about this record. I didn't expect it to be so good but really wanted it to, if that makes sense. I have loved Pentagram ever since I heard Be Forewarned (which I think is a superb album as well). I raced out and got as much back catalog as I could find and afford (much of their stuff was rare until recent reissues).

I knew of the issues with Bobby and was very glad to hear of his recovery and reunion with Victor Griffin. I loved Griffin's 2 records he did with Wino in Place of Skulls and knew he would be on his game.

The album itself is so strong for many reasons. First it is very diverse. Strange thing to say for doom rock/metal but they have semi ballads (Windmills and Chimes) in your face Sabbath type doom (Walk in the Blue Light) and experimental awesomness like you have never heard before in 8.

Bobby's voice is very powerful on most songs. I believe, even though he is not credited, Victor is singing back up with Bobby to give it a fuller sound which only helps with the overall vibe as Vic is a great singer (he sings in Place of Skulls).

Only complaints from me is I wish Bobby's voice was in the mix a little higher on some songs. Death in 1st Person vocal mix is strange to me but it is unique so it may grow on me. Also I do wish Victor's guitar was a little clear as he goes for wall of fuzz sound quite a bit.

But these are very, very minor details on what is one of the most enjoyable doom metal albums ever made. It is like what you could imagine Sabbath would have sounded like if they kept playing until today. Only Bobby right now is 1000X a better singer than Ozzie is and Vics guitar playing is at the top of its game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another classic for your collection 21 Feb. 2012

Another master piece! After another lengthy hiatus one of the finest bands to grace music came back with a vengeance. Even though some of the material is not new to the world of Pentagram collectors its great to hear these tunes properly recorded with a very sober Bobby Lieling at the mic. This should be held up there with the other classic albums that they have given us over a very long and strange career.I hope that any true fan finds this recording as important as I do. Its meant to played loud and often! Some of the tunes that really hit me personally are Call the Man,8,Into the ground,American Dream,Horseman, and Nothing Left.

5.0 out of 5 stars Signs of life, before death... 19 April 2011

If you're familiar with Pentagram and you're thinking more unaldulterated Sabbath worship, well yeah they deliver the wall of doom sound. And it's the return of Victor Griffin that makes it feel so good, Mr. Griffin was always the one that had the Tony Iommi vibe down pat. Bobby Leibling's voice and song writing is rejuvinated, he sounds better here than he did on 2004's "Show 'Em How"..These guys are not dead yet, with a new bass player and drummer, Pentagram lives and breathes again.
