I love this book. I didn't know if I would until the very end. It requires perseverance as the story continues from Book 1 and the truth about Reeve, Amber and Emily comes to light. It's not easy but it's so worth it. Laurelin doesn't sugar coat and she doesn't shy away from pain or darkness and her work is all the better for it. If you've read the fixed series, be prepared for an even darker path. Loved this.

A Dark, Dangerous, Seductive Tale of Love, Lust, Betrayal, Manipulation, and Obsessive Control. Not for the faint-hearted!

Laurelin Paige is one of my favorite authors and I have yet to find a book she has written that I don't obsessively love. I adored First Touch, the first book in this series, and I thought I'd die after that cliffhanger ending - it was seriously good. I was delighted, therefore, to receive a copy of this book to review and even though I have a list of other ARCs and review books to read, I couldn't resist getting stuck straight in.

However, I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book. From a literary perspective, it is an absolute triumph, a masterful, skillfully-woven piece of fiction that has been expertly crafted to the very minutest detail. Seriously well done, Ms. Paige. I think this may be your best yet - and I don't say that lightly because I have adored every book in your Fixed and Found series.

But I have to admit to absolutely hating reading this at times. This is going to sound contradictory because I did love it too, but it's because the characters are so real that I really grew to hate and love them in equal measures. Not only has the author buried her way into these characters heads, she has consumed them completely, body, heart, mind and soul. So much so that they felt abnormally real to me. Reeve, Amber, and Emily are some of the most complex characters I have ever read about. I am in awe of Laurelin's ability to bring these flawed characters to life with so much depth and substance. I can only imagine how stressful it must have been to write this at times, but let me say that the execution was absolutely flawless.

This was definitely a book that had me waiting with bated breath for its release. After ending on the “Amber” cliffie in First Touch, I was itching to find out exactly what had happened to her and to see where Emily and Reeve’s story took them to next.

I found the first part of this story a little bit slow to develop compared to the high impact storyline of its predecessor. I was even beginning to wonder if there was going to be a sneaky third part to this series but thankfully, we get our answers at the end of Last Kiss. Despite the steady pace throughout this story, I was blown away by the ending. From about 70% of the way through the book, I was drawn into a fast paced storyline with plenty of unexpected surprises, twists and turns.

At times, Emily’s negativity grated on me and her insecurity was overwhelming. I wanted Reeve to fight harder for her but at the same time, I realised that he was waiting for her to reach her own conclusion about their relationship. Amber was definitely a cuckoo in the Reeve nest, that’s for sure, and with her openly claiming him again, poor Emily was left wondering whether she was surplus to requirements.

For some reason, I just didn’t really fully connect with this instalment in the series but the ending was definitely worth persevering for. Whereas I am normally full of words to describe my emotions at the conclusion of a book, for some reason Last Kiss has left me feeling a little dumbstruck. I loved the connection between Reeve and Emily but after the sexual chemistry and explosive scenes between them in First Touch, their story in Last Kiss was a lot more subdued and perhaps this is what has left me wanting.

Despite my personal misgivings, this is certainly a really enjoyable series and one that I would definitely recommend to others.

I really enjoyed book 1, First Touch, and couldn't wait to read this one. You do need to read the books in order to understand the story.

After the cliffhanger ending to First Touch I couldn't help but worry about where the storyline may take the characters. I had come to love the characters of Emily and Reeve. Although there's was a tumultuous relationship, they worked as a pairing. He knew what he wanted, she was willing to become what he wanted. But she had secrets which she didn't want him to know. Likewise he has many more secrets. What would happen when those secrets came to light? These thoughts were constantly running through my mind as I read this book.

With past ghosts resurfacing Emily and Reeve have to set aside any grievances they may have and try to work out a way forward. There are so many twists, turns and secrets which threaten everything they hold dear, and they both need to dig deep to get through everything.

The story held my attention throughout, the characters we met in book 1 become so much more in book 2. We also meet a few new characters who are also well written. This is an erotic story, but not as much as the previous book. This one features more on the mystery side of the story which I absolutely loved.

A great story, and a brilliant series. Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
