I really liked this story to begin with about Cade and Rebecca (Stone to him) who worked together at a TV news station and there is definitely a lot of humour, a good deal of great sex and some drama too but for me it ended far too quickly and was pretty predictable. I prefer more drama in my books and this was just lacking plus I didn't like the naff title. Cade has an ex in the story who at the beginning seems to be around quite a bit trying to get back with him which I thought would have made an interesting story as I love the jealousy element but that didn't materialise into much which was disappointing.

The Last Guy is a fantastic romantic comedy showcasing the compatibility of the writing talents of Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise. I, for one, am hoping for a lot more collaborations between this dynamic duo.

Rebecca is a TV reported stuck dong fluff pieces while paying her dues in the hopes of making the anchor position at the TV news station she works for. However, there is more at play than she realises when a younger, albeit dingbat, reporter threatens the chance of promotion for Rebecca. Adding insult to injury, Rebecca has recently suffered a breakup where her partner left her for a younger woman. At only 28, Rebecca’s self-confidence has understandably taken a large hit. Forced to re-evaluate her image in order to preserve her career or risk being relegated behind the scenes.

I admired Rebecca’s drive and determination, I was fully invested in her future and hurt for her with the callous way she was treated by the station manager. Rebecca has a wonderful way with people, making everyone feel at ease in her presence and bringing out the best in them. It is this quality that makes people want to help her in whatever way they can. Her best friend and roommate, Chas, was a vibrant addition to the story and a wonderful support system for Rebecca.

Cade, superstar sportscaster and ex NFL quarterback, works at the same station as Rebecca and has witnessed the heartless way Rebecca has been treated. There is something about Rebecca that draws Cade to her in a way that is more than just physical attraction. Cade is often judged on his profession and appearance and easily dismissed as a dumb jock. However, there is a lot more to Cade than first impressions would suggest. Getting to delve beneath the surface of Cade was one of the highlights for me of The Last Guy.

I received an ARC from the authors in return for an honest review.

I knew from virtually the first page that I would enjoy this book. The characters immediately drew me in and the chemistry was bubbling under the surface from the outset. I liked way it was written - with the dual POV.

Rebecca is a hardworking news reporter who is committed to her job and eager to get a promotion to a role in the studio. She throws herself into the various location jobs she gets with gusto and has a few mishaps along the way which had me howling with laughter!

The sports department is led by the hunky ex-footballer Cade Hill and he has an air of cockiness which initially grates on Rebecca. She has made up her mind that she wants nothing to do with him....despite an unhealthy addiction to his sexy ass!!

So when they find themselves in a taxi back to Rebecca's place after one too many shots, the sexual tension reaches fever pitch! After getting down and dirty between the sheets (and other places too!!) they both attempt to put it behind them as a one night stand and forget it happened.

Trying to ignore the simmering sexual tension is an impossible task as they work together, but they do their best to act professionally in the office.

Rebecca finds herself fighting for her job and getting overlooked for promotion by her weasel of a boss Marv, whilst struggling to ignore the burning desire to jump Cade's bones! Luckily he is on the same page as Rebecca, but as well as wanting more of her he also wants to save her career.

I was rooting for Rebecca and Cade throughout this story and due to the many 'bumps in the road' I was unsure whether they would get their HEA.
