"In every case, the presence and personality of the endangered animals rise off the page - even when the authors don't manage to find them. The writing may be witty, but this book is a sobering reminder of what a very great deal we have to lose" (Independent on Sunday)
"This is life or death stuff, but Adams is a writer who chooses not to shake his finger at the reader. He fails completely in the self-righteous-piety department. Instead he invites us to enter a conspiracy of laughter and caring" (Los Angeles Times)
"It is a book one reads in a rush, always looking forward to the next perverse paragraph, wise insight or felicitous phrase" (The Canberra Times)
"Last Chance to See brings out the best in Adams' writing ... constantly springing on the reader the kind of dizzying shift in perspective that was the stock in trade of Hitchhiker'" (The Listener)
"The funniest serious book on the market." (Amazon.co.uk reader review)

He was unmoved by the threat of having this book added to his annual objectives, so I bought the book for him, and have promised that there'll be a test at the end of term.
A splendidly funny and silly book, quite a successful novelisation of the Radio Series.
Note that the extracts from the archives come right at the end of Chapter 35, and are interesting, especially the fax from Douglas to the American script editor, explaining why some things shouldn't be changed. For some reason, they're not listed in the table of contents.
I had never purchased or listened to an audio book before and I wasn't disappointed. Stephen Fry is excellent and brings every character to life, the story (as ever) is wonderful and for me was the most pleasing part was that my nine year old daughter also loved it (Bringing a whole new dimension to our school run journeys).
If you love Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy buy this, if you have never experienced Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy but like surreal comedy then buy this, you won't be disappointed.
A word of caution however, be careful listening to this in the car as there are moments when you laugh so much.
P.S My second audio book has just been ordered "The Restaurant at the end of the Universe"
If you know HHGTTG, you know that the radio version is the original and best. Don’t settle for anything else!
