From the back: Lassie, the prize dog of a cottager's household is sold to a wealthy family when hard times befall her owners. Taken hundreds of miles away, she does what many collies have done before her, she starts for home so that she can be faithful to a duty - that of meeting a boy by a school-house gate.
Lassie is a collie who meets her friend, a boy, everyday at the gate after school but one day when the family gets skint she has to be sold to the duke of Yorkshire. Now Lassie is not flexible with change so she continues to escape back home which results in the duke taking her with him to
his new home in Scotland and this is when it gets more like "The Incredible Journey" because dispite her being so far from England she makes an almost impossible journey back home and encounters many obstacles along the way. Unfortunately the people who made the movies Americanized them which is very bad because this story is based in United Kingdom - Tipical Americans! The story of Lassie Come-Home is unforgetable though and is a recomending read for all people who enjoy a good and happy story so give it a shot and you will not regret it.
Lassie doesn't care that she's had to be sold; she knows who her owner is, and she's determined to get back to the young lad, however far she has to walk.
I recommend comparing this with an American tale, King, the story of a sheepdog, by Thomas C Hinkle.
