An appealing book for all those who like to mix humour into the polititcal life of today. This book brings a refreshing insight into the life behind that famous door but brings also the endearing character of Larry, the no 10 cat to life. Covering only the first 100 days of David Cameron's Government I eagerly await the next instalement

He knows more about "the squeezed middle" than anyone. Because he HAS one.

He'll sleep in Samantha Cameron's knicker drawer if he gets the chance.

And he calls the next door neighbour "Boy George".

Meet Larry, the 4 year old tabby tom given the task of ridding the home of the British PM of rats, mice and other nasties. The fact that Larry is perhaps not the serial killer that was expected does not get in the way of his adventures in No10 during his first 100 days. He witnesses all sorts of political wheeling and dealing - not to mention Clegg going off in a strop because no one but him likes the idea of AV - and soon becomes a firm favourite of the army of secretaries referred to as "the garden girls" who have responsibility for his food, his basket and his William & Kate cushion.

An excellent book for all cat fans, this is a witty and charming take on the life of the First Cat. My only tiny gripe would be that nothing from the sale proceeds goes to the Battersea Cat & Dog Home from whence Larry was sprung. Most VIP animal books - like those of the Presidential Pets - have a charity tie in. This could explain the lack of any "official" photos of Larry in his new home. Perhaps Larry could have a word with the talented author and ensure that his former fellow in-mates get a little slice of the pie too.

I loved reading this book. It bounced along and I fell for the loveable 'rough round the edges' Larry the cat. Its a great story about an alley cat that hits gold when he is moved into No 10 Downing St, but it come with a price as he is tasked with ridding the house of rats. It's also an interesting insight into the life behind the doors of no 10, the author cleverly gets into the minds of 'Dave' and 'Sam' - with amusing, true to life anedotes of the Prime Minister, his wife and British party politics. I went straight out and bought a copy for my mum and my aunty. Its a must read!

Eat your heart out Sue Townsend - this diarist is the new Adrian Mole. The anthropomorphic observations on the corridors of power are brilliant - every page is hilarious. There is also a cunning sub-plot relating to coalition in the contrast between the relationship of David Cameron and Nick Clegg and that of Larry the No.10 ratcatcher and the creatures he is brought in to deal with. Oh please, please, do not stop at Larry's first 100 days but, as with Adrian Mole, let us have more.

Loved this book. Larry provides us with an insightful cat's eye view of the Coalition government and life with DC, Sam Cam and Boy George, somehow managing to see the humorous side. Engaging, smart - and occasionally smart-arsed - Larry's attention to detail is brilliant as he observes the comings and goings at number 10. You can't help wondering how he comes up with this stuff, and about the writer's source on the inside. Full of laughs but you learn a lot too. You'll whizz through it and still want more. Bring on the sequel!
