Our dog is currently medium sized. We used the sizing process recommended ie drawing around the shape of the dogs paw on the ground, and ordered the "large" size purple-coloured boots. The idea was to keep road-salt and ice from getting up into her pads during severe snowy weather.

The dog's leg, above the paw where the neck of the boot sits, measures about 1.5" by 1" (3.8cms x 2.5cms)

The unstretched neck of the boot measures about 1" by 5/8" (2.5cms x 1.8cms ) so when fitted on her, the elastic rubber neck of the boot is stretched quite tight.

Although the "balloon" part of the boot is the correct size with plenty of room for her paw, the neck seems a little tight to be comfortable for the dog to wear for any more than say a 30 min walk.

Stretching the neck of the boot over my own two fingers (less thick than the dog's leg) felt like wearing an elastic band, but when I tried widening the neck of one by trimming a little off with sharp scissors, the wider opening came off the dog's paw as soon as she started running about, so it would appear that they do need to be a tight fit.

Recently the dog broke one of her back claws while running up a concrete staircase. The rubber boot was extremely useful for keeping that paw protected from mud and dirt while the claw healed again, so they're worth having around as a 'dog first-aid' item too.

Well impressed with these little booties. My Dobermann has "wobblers", which means his limbs don't always obey his brain. One of his front legs in particular drags on the ground each time he takes a step, so much so, he's worn the nails on this foot down to the quik. This has resulted in one of his quiks bleeding regularly, painful for him & makes a real mess on the floor. I had already tried various dog booties on the recommendation of my vet, the more expensive types, but my dog found it impossible to walk with one on. They were just too hard/solid for him to keep his balance.
With the Pawz variety, they are fairly thin rubber type material, & stay on the paw by way of the elasticity within the material. No straps or velcrose. So far its the only bootie I have found which has suited him, or to be honest, that he's been able to walk with.
I do have to protect the quik with a plaster first, then put the PAWZ bootie on top. He goes through one a day, due to the severity of his "drag" or "scrape" along the floor with his paw. BUT, at least with this product, I can continue to walk him and maintain his regular daily exercise. I remove the bootie during the evening, so his foot is able to get fresh air. I am hoping the continued use of this product will enable his nails to grow back over his quiks. I really would recommend this product to anyone whose dog has wobblers, or a problem with a bleeding nail/quik. They grip well on tiled or lino type floors, so can be a real godsend to a dog with balance or limb problems.

These boots have been a life saver for my German Shepherd. He has a weakness in his back legs and when he walked was repeatedly opening a sore on the top of his foot as he dragged it along the ground. We tried other boots and they created too much friction as he dragged his foot and exhausted him. These boots are light, well fitting, easy to put on and stay on and his wounds have healed since starting to wear them. They last several walks which is excellent considering he drags his foot every step (though this is on grass .....I stay away from walking on pavements). I will definitely be buying more when we finish our first pack.

I have a small size Staffordshire Bull Terrier he measured at the smallest end (3in) for the large boots while a fantastic idea, in practise, I would urge caution these boots are very tight around the leg I guess to keep them on but I do mean *really* tight - enough for me to be concerned about restricted circulation. And don't forget your dog can't tell you!

Bought these to provide some protection when the dog cut one of his pads and chewed off any bandaging we tried. Helpful to have someone holding the dog's leg while you use both hands to stretch the opening over toes and claws, then the boot is held firmly in place above the foot. Plenty of room for our Pointer's front paw with the large size, and the neck is not too tight around his ankle. Be realistic with expectations about how hard-wearing these are - they are made from reasonably strong rubber but claws will eventually poke through and they're not going to survive hours of hard walking, but they can be re-used a few times and are absolutely ideal for short-term protection and for keeping wounds or sensitive areas clear of muck in the garden or on short walks.
Pleased with these and have already ordered some more to keep for emergencies - our vet was really impressed with them too.

These dog boots do state that they are disposable although can be reused - and the description includes the word 'durable'. One wearing in the snow and my dog's boots had little puncture marks on the pad area - I presume from ice particles and grit. Three outings per day and that would have been the boots finished with. However, I decided to try putting duct tape on the pad area on the inside of each boot. The duct tape stuck well, I covered the area with talcum powder and - success. The boots are lasting well now that they have reinforced 'soles'. They are reasonably easy to put on - at least with a co-operative dog. I make my dog lie on her side and then put the boots on her paws. I wouldn't recommend these boots for more than casual/emergency wear unless you are prepared to strengthen the area that comes into contact with the ground.
