They are nice and girly and but not too mushy, and it is a relief that they are not all about boys and kissing (something that inevitably seems to happen to nice girl's book sequels, so dissappointing!! There are enough books about love, boyfriends already!! Some girls just don't need boys to enjoy a story. And then they can "grow into" "real chicklit".
It is nice this keeps to its original audience
It's March 1570, and several artists are at court to paint portraits of the Queen. Grace and the other Maids of Honour spend time in the studio, especially since one of them must often stand in for the Queen as the portraits are being painted. Grace becomes fascinated with painting, and learns that many of the paints used are poisonous. Not long after, one of the Maids of Honour, Carmina, becomes very ill. Grace suspects that she does not have an illness but has been poisoned, perhaps using some of the paint ingredients. She must find out who is poisoning Carmina, and how she is being poisoned, before it's too late.
This was another great Lady Grace adventure that was just as good as the other books in this series. I'd recommend this to all readers who enjoyed the other mysteries in this series, and to new readers interested in this time period as well.
