The porron wine pitcher is a festive way to serve wine or sangria. Simply collect the porron and tilt to a fine stream of wine pours directly in the mouth. It takes some skill, but is fun in a party to see so well that you and your friends master the technique. Each porron holds 3/4 L, and more of a bottle of vino. Porrones are famous throughout Spain although probably the design originated in Catalunia in place of wine-skins. They were originally made of ceramic, but now are fashionable of blown recycled glass.

For those who are new to the concept, check YouTube for "beber de un porrón." The basic concept is that you pull out the cork and pour in whatever drink you want. Add about as much as the amount of wine shown in the picture for this product. Keeping the porron uncorked, pick it up by the top tube and pour the drink straight into your mouth through the spout (without touching it with your lips). It's basically an exercise in trust. The faster you pour, the more accurate it will be and the less likely you are to spill. The spout's opening is so small that you can actually hold the porron at full arm's length and keep the drink going straight into your mouth without any spills. The trickiest part is stopping pouring. As with the pour itself, if you hesitate, you're done for. Cut it off firmly and quickly, all at once, and you shouldn't spill much.
Construction was solid. Comes with a cheapie cork at the top that is stuck on by tape and left sticky residue. I just threw the cork away.
My main complaint is that I wish the hole in the spout were WAY smaller - it's pretty large for a porron, and that's a lot of wine to be flowing so quickly!
