This is one of a limited range of lipsticks designed in conjunction with the French Fashion house Balmain, and the packaging is gorgeous - very retro chic in dark blue and gold. The colours are designed to be edgy and you'd need a lot of confidence and/or the right skin tone to carry this one off - I don't think it's my shade, being a deep purple colour, but I found that I can blend it in to leave a subtle berry stain on my lips. I've worn it a couple of times that way. It would be great for 20-somethings and Millennials going to clubs/parties.
The good part was the texture of the lipstick, very slick and felt nourishing and full of moisture. I could've easily worn it for several hours without that horrible drying or cracking feeling. The smell was also lovely, it was the childhood smell of Parma Violet sweets ( or the now adult smell of Parma Violet gin!!) ☺️. It was really appealing, and made we want to slick on another layer.
What I didn't get on with was firstly the design. This particular edition is a Balmain special which is a great designer, and I actually sell Balmain glasses as part of by job. This horrible, faux green plastic marble effect looks cheap, tacky and dated. It doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.
The biggest issue is the look and colour. This particular nude shade made me look like a corpse. No other way of saying it, it just looked plain awful. As I said earlier I think I would've gotten on much better with a different shade, other reviewers seems to love them!
