About the Author

Author of romance novels such as Red Card and the Captive Heart Duet, Carrie Aarons writes sexy, swoony and sarcastic characters who won't get out of her head until she puts them down on a page. Carrie has wanted to be an author since the first time she opened a book. She loves spinning tales that include dapper men, women with attitude, and the occasional hunky athlete. When she isn't in what her husband calls a "writing coma", Carrie is freeing up her jam-packed DVR, starting her latest DIY project, or planning her next travel adventure. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, who is more than happy to watch sports while his wife plots love stories. Bangor Belle Book Besties

Wow! OMG why did i wait so long to read this book !!!!

Tucker and Charlotte have shared a childhood past, that wasn’t always easy and both have been left tormented and still carry their issues with them. Charlotte now working in a bank and Tucker, well he’s a drug addict, dealing with losing what could have been a superstar career in the NFL. His life now in tatters. And he just happens to walk into Charlotte’s bank with BAD intentions!

I really don’t want to give too much away with this, because this book needs to be read. It’s different and original and fresh! Their journey and ensuing relationship isn’t easy and at times hard to read, but the author has you captivated and you really feel your reading about real people. The twists are endless and the drama is high, but we learn so much about these characters. I really could not tell where this book was going to take me but it hit all the right spots emotionally. I was really surprised by how much this book and this couple captivated me, I really didn’t want to like Tucker, and i failed terribly, I loved him !!!! Yes this was a couple in love, but there wasn’t anything on their side and i couldn’t see how they could ever over come their circumstances. This book does end in a cliffhanger and trust me you will be diving right into the second book.

This is almost a story of three parts. The past plays a major part in how the two versions of present day play out for both Tucker and Charlotte. You have the first version of present day when both are broken and lost almost beyond repair. Then you have the second where you slowly start to see a new lease of life coming back into them due to the situation they find themselves. But with how they came back together again after so long being anything but normal you know it’s only an amount of time before they are torn back apart.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one, as the blurb doesn’t really give anything away. From the title though its clear that something or someone is lost. You find out that really its both Tucker and Charlotte. They have been surviving but not really living for years now. Charlotte has become a shell of a person, her upbringing and circumstances of her past making her what she is today. Tucker is beyond at rock bottom. He doesn’t care where he is or what he’s doing. All he cares about is his next fix and for that he needs money. As luck would have it he happens upon an open bank door early one morning. Thinking its fate he goes right up to the only person in there to demand money or he will shoot them. He gets more than he bargained for though when the person he points the gun at recognizes him.

Charlotte has one of those moments when she just wished she had stayed in bed that morning. She must have been having a funny moment or why else would she have forgotten to lock the bank door when she got in. Sitting in silence she is shocked out of it when confronted by a robber. The more he speaks to demand money though the more his voice triggers a memory long thought forgotten.

3.75* read. Bit of a up and down one for me. First off please note this is the first book and does end on a cliffhanger and a pretty big cliffhanger at that. Also after reading this book i don't think the front cover matches with Tucker at all and so was quite misleading for someone like me who does go off covers. If you read the story you'll see what i mean, the story is darker compared to this light clean and pristine cover. Its hard to write this review without giving to much away but i will say Char and Tucker's story was a lot different then what i was expecting but i did enjoy it and i look forward to the next part after that massive cliffhanger.
