I have installed this and a Crucial 250Gb m2 SSD into an ageing Dell Inspiron 9300 that I use for various bits and bobs. Wow. What a transformation. The laptop now boots up in a few seconds, far, far faster than it takes my iPhone 6s Plus to boot from cold :P

The first issue is that the BIOS doesn't see more than 138Gb, no problem, Windows/Linux takes care of the disc controller once the OS is loaded so the BIOS is no longer important.

The second issue is that the IDE controller and the SATA bridge board doesn't understand the TRIM command. You will need to disable TRIM in the OS otherwise you will experience regular system-wide spasms, about every 30 seconds for 5 seconds... This is the OS asking the drive to respond to the TRIM request, it doesn't respond so the system stops all disc access until the command times out. Makes for a *very* frustrating experience :P
