Definitely poor performance for a Quad core followed by a very limited space for apps
on 26 April 2014
I don't really write reviews for online purchases, but this time I wanted to share my experience with this tablet.
First impression - CHEAP and you get what you have paid for.
Box came barely closed with a two small pieces of tape on both sides with some bits rattling inside (which I found out after opening - wall charger too big for a box).
Manual is really tiny, without any important information and tablet specification + written in a broken english.
Tablet came with 37 percent of charge. I've decided to switch it on after removing protective film from a screen.
To my huge surprise it was on and running in less than 10 seconds!
I thought - wow. that's really really impressive.
Screen is rough and gives you a goosebumps whilst touching. Oh well it can't be that bad. It's a cheap tablet.
I found some demo video (apparently recorded in Full HD 1080p according to a filename). Some dancing chinese girls with a out of sync english dubbed singing. Video quality was actually really good. Viewing angles from left and right almost perfect. Looking at screen from top or bottom - nightmare.
Everything turns black/purple and you are unable to see what's going on.
After that - camera. IT'S BAD. REALLY BAD. Cheapest PC camera looks better. Pictures are blurry. I've tried to make a short video recording. You can choose 720p and 1080p. Clip was about 15 seconds long. Everything was blurry and froze halfway (during recording and playing).
Tablet wasn't coping with a smooth recording when I was slowly moving it around room.
Really bad for a 1GB DDR3 QUAD CORE. A31s is a powerful processor and my previous 7 inch tablet with Dual Core was running smoother than this unit.
You can mayba partially blame KitKat for that as a demanding os. If that's to blame - they should stay with Android 4.2.
Next thing - space for apps. Sticker on back of tablet states 8GB. Actually you have ABOUT 5GB left for everything (1.9gb + 3.1 gb) according to system info. Asphalt 8 or any newer game takes about 1.4 GB.
Quite big disappointment for me. With 10.1 inches screen you would like to play some games - not only Angry Birds which takes 40 mb or Fruit Ninja (which is some kind of main movie in various tablet adverts).
I feel disappointed after spending almost 90 quid. Description states: "LIMITED TIME SALE! 50% OFF".
It's not worth almost 200 pounds. For 160 you can get HP Slate with same size screen, 16gb of space and Beats by Dre speakers.
It's OK - just OK for a budget tablet, but for this price you can find something better. That's what I'm going to do after sending this one back. I hope that my review will help someone with decision: to buy or not to buy :)
