would recommend this to anyone
There seems to be a boundary around 32 inches - manufacturers don't seem to make HDTVs below that or HD monitors above that.
When I was shopping, HD Freeview was looming and most HDTVs did not have this as standard.
I decided it was better to buy a monitor now and an HD Freeview tuner box later.
No sense replacing a whole TV when you just need a different tuner.
This was the largest HD monitor I could find at a good price, and had good reviews.
I ranked picture quality above size.
There is one HDMI, one DVI-D and one analogue DB15 socket. I'd have preferred a second HDMI, or a DisplayPort connector. It doesn't make sense driving a digital monitor from old technology analogue monitor signals.
There is no facility for wall-mounting, so it will take some desk space.
The screen finish is matt like most monitors, unlike most HDTVs which are glossy.
Image quality is unremarkable, but in a good way. It is the lower quality monitors that disappoint.
All LCD monitors use essentially the same technology, and everything is a trade off between contrast, switching speed, price and so on. All LCDs have some colour change with viewing angle, and this one is no exception, but it is very slight and not a problem for a single user sitting directly in front.
I haven't noticed any deficiencies watching video, so it is fast enough on that score.
The user interface is not great but you only need to use this occasionally.
Not the cheapest around, but this is a good quality display.
