Pros:
1. Extremely sleek (my first LED backlit after years with LCD monitors), thin and light.
2. Matte finish but not like Dell Ultrasharp's hardcoat 3. Softer and perfect! I have a window behind me and I can see perfectly. The frame is glossy though.
3. External power supply. This maybe standard for LED monitors now, but it's new to me. This is a very good move, because 'power supply issues' if any can be resolved without opening the panel up. I am guessing it reduces heat and increases life as well.
4. Brilliant picture out of the box. Will tune it later to match the temperature of my Laptop's screen.
5. Using the DVI input so no comments on sound.
6. The bright Red LED power button can be turned off as mentioned by others.
Cons:
1. As mentioned by everyone, terribly wobbly stand. If you have restless feet just make sure you are not touching the table directly ;)
The connectors are horizontal so they stick out from the back, but not a problem for me at the moment.
Overall - Love it! I've used a Dell Ultrasharp IPS 21" before, I gave it away when I moved, this one, I am not giving away to anyone for sure ;-).
P.S. If you are wondering if the pixel pitch makes a difference between a 21" and 23", well I can't tell, just glad I got the 23".
The monitor is built to a price which is fair enough but does have vga,dvi and hdmi inputs, mine has very slight bleeding on the bottom which was reduced when i turned down the contrast and brightness, not a deal killer as I have seen monitors costing far more with this problem and some are a lot worse and it can vary between units, but the thing that may or may not annoy you is ips glow in the corners or edges depending on where you are looking, this is only visible in a dark room while watching films to be honest.
I have played a few games and have not noticed any ghosting, to sum up you get a good monitor with great veiwing angles and a good image for a tad over £100.
- Slim and light
- NIce matt display, which is good for viewing in sunlight
- Nice to have two inputs
- Good value
Negatives:
- Clunky user interface
- Light on power button is very distracting (it can be turned off, but in standby it is always on)
- Makes hissing noise in standby
- The stand is awful, it always shakes the monitor. Not a problem if you don't move it much, but even turning the monitor on shakes it.
I like the monitor a lot and find it good to use even in direct light due to the matt screen. It is a nice and sharp 1080p (Full HD) display which is the standard right now on monitors. Colour reproduction on it is good, although whites sometimes appear a bit too bright as do blacks. However, for the price I don't feel it is a major issue, and as I use this mainly for working using word processing and internet browsing, it is not a problem.
The stand it comes with doesn't take up much room, meaning the monitor should fit nicely on smaller desks. It also has a nice cable router at the back, so you can put the power and input cables through it in a tidy fashion. However, this stand is very shaky, and every time the power button is pushed it shakes. It is not a big deal, just a minor annoyance.
What is frustrating is the light on the power button. It is a vibrant red that distracts from what is on the screen, and in low light is just untolerable. It can be turned off, but I have had issues with it randomly coming back on. In standby however, it will flash. if like me, you like to leave your computer on sleep mode and just press enter when you come back, then this is annoying. In the dark, it is too much.
Also in standby mode, there is a hissing noise. Between this and the light, I just cannot leave the monitor in standby. Not a deal breaker, but a niggle I have.
There is a HDMI input, VGA as well as a 3.5mm audio out. It is nice to be able to have two devices connected at a time!
The monitor is wall mountable, although I haven't tested that so cannot really comment.
The menus aren't the very good, although you probably won't be using them much beyond the initial setup.
All in all, a good buy and I am very happy with it!
Colour reproduction is good in some respects. It's easy to achieve good depth of colour using the default settings however I personally found screen slightly too 'yellowy' for my liking but by trying to rectify this, the accuracy of other colours such as blues have become slightly off. This is something that bugs me every time I use it and requires a fair amount of fiddling with both the on screen menus and colour calibration via Windows/Mac resolve. If you can't notice the 'yellowness' however, then this screen really is great.
I also found that there is significant audio distortion if using the earphone output so you have to turn the volume settings to around 50% to avoid this -not ideal.
Once again, kudos to Amazon for quickly sending a replacement when the courier decided that delivering it over the garden wall was a good idea..
I know I've pointed out a fair few negatives, but don't get me wrong, it is a good screen -especially for the price. It's just if your picky or slightly OCD about how things look, it may really bug you.
