Absolutely amazing phone with real innovation.

First of all, I would like to mention that this review will be very beneficial for those who are not sure whether they want this or the Galaxy S7. I have bought both phones (one for work and the other for personal use) and used them for several weeks and will mention comparisons throughout. My previous phones were an S4 and a LG G2 before I bought these.

Design & Build Quality:

You can tell this is definitely the best build quality LG have managed in a phone. It is the first metal phone that has hidden those ugly antenna lines by some type of coating - but it still feels great in the hand. Extremely comfortable to hold compared to the glass s7 and you won't feel like this will slip out of your hand. For those who buy protective cases the difference won't even matter. For me the build quality is the one place where the S7 excels so make your choice, do you want your money to go into looks or innovation?

Hardware:

The sim tray also contains a microsd cart slot so you can easily add an additional 200gb if needed. The modular design is great but not for everyone. It should add some longevity to the device for those who don't change phone every 6 months.

I am disappointed that the S7 has no infrared transmitter as I personally need my phone to be able to control everything in the house that requires a remote. Thankfully the G5 has retained this hardware.
The G5 has the new USB C! Now you can plug your charger in either way in the dark without fumbling around, it also transfers files blazing fast and allows reverse charging. The S7 is still using the old connectors.

Screen:

A beautiful 1440p IPS display with amazing colour accuracy.

Please note this review is based on me having used this handset for over 3 weeks now. Hope this helps there is also a short video and images.

What do I think may online review have claimed the S7 is better when comparing the two handset specs, real world usage are two very different things. My partner went for the S7 did not like the edge for her own reasons that's another story. I just wanted something different and boy is it different I love the handset.

POWER BUTTON - Never having used a mobile with the power button on the rear i had my doubts initially, this turned out to be a pleasant surprise after only a few hours it just became natural. While on the subject of the power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner may i just say, watching my better half trying to unlock her s7 by sliding her finger on the front power button, and it not responding as well as the G5 has given me a little satisfaction, the unlock feature..... for one is far better on the LG.... i have no doubt whatsoever.

Build Quality - Yes i can't deny the s7 edge maybe more visually appealing to some as many others before me have complained that the G5 feels more like plastic than a flagship phone should be. The chassis is aluminum but the back cover looks to be a thick layer of hard plastic, LG claim that this is called and i quote “microdized” metal. I don't know what this is and to be honest, It really did not bother me the slightest. When i handled my phone for the first time..... just loved it.... feels and looks PREMIUM.

Speed - Lightning fast check out my video running 10 plus app in the background the phone will not LAG.

Software - Latest Android Version 6.0.

Great phone. But be warned camera lens glass is very weak. Mine was randomnly shattered in my pocket. I googled it and alot of people have had similar issue. Amazon have ignored my complaint about it for over a day now. Brilliant.

The overall opinion for this phone is that it is ok, but not perfect. I prefer this one instead of LG G4 because I had 3 LG G4 and all of them had the sudden death problem. Coming back to the LG G5, I really like the size, you can reach to everywhere on the screen. The removable battery is something I want in everyphone because after a few months of use, it is very likely that you need to replace your battery for a new one.

The reason for a 3 stars rate is because I'm experiencing problems with the GPS reception. It has been ok but in the last days, I'm having this problem so I will have a look to see if it is solved or not.

Something I really like is the combination of the 2 cameras. The pictures are perfect and you can do a lof of things with both cameras. I wasn't expected too much of this but finally I'm surprised with the cameras.

I had the G3 and upgraded to the G5. This phone is truly amazing and is easily the best phone of 2016! Never used a better phone, and trust me, I've used a lot in my time. This phone is absolute brilliance and I highly recommend this if you're looking for a new phone that can last you a long time and won't become outdated! 5 Stars

Would buy again. Fantastic product. I waited for it to drop in price (it was never worth more than £400). Build issues were definitely a problem with some of the earlier models and there was definitely some bad 'uns but the European batches seem to be holding their ground. Not a very popular device and probably not the best looking but certainly the best spec for a phone from a decent manufacturer. The always on display and wide angle lens being my favourite. As the battery can also be replaced it should definitely hold its resale value too.
