If you’re reading this review, then I think it would be fair to assume that you’re at least considering buying one, so I’ll start my review by answering a couple of questions that you’re probably wanting answers to:-

1) No – I don’t NEED a Smartwatch
2) YES – Smartwatches are a bit of a toy/gadget, but they can be genuinely useful.
3) YES – The battery life is rubbish (compared to a “normal” watch)

I’ve been deciding which Smartwatch to buy for a while, now. I narrowed it down to two. I love the look of the Moto360 but just cannot get past that “flat tyre” on the bottom of the display. It would do my OCD bulb in!
Also, its inferior battery (320mAh) put me off.
So, I’ve bitten the bullet and gone for this one – the LG Urbane, which is (in my opinion) the best Smartwatch available at this moment in time.

Tip - Before you do ANYTHING with this watch, make sure your ‘phone is connected to wifi/3g/4g as you set it up and go through the pairing process. This way it will be updated to the latest build/firmware (as it will be an older build straight from the box)

First of all, and lets be clear on this. It’s big. Very big.
Now, I love big watches (got a couple of Seiko divers and an Omega), but even I was a bit surprised about the physical size of the thing! I do really like the way it looks. (Obviously - I bought one.)
The leather strap is nice, if a little stiff at first, but soon softens (helped a little by flexing it through your fingers repeatedly before wearing it)

The screen is lovely, and comments about the 245pixels per inch not being high enough, or that it’s “grainy” are ridiculous. Folks have become obsessed with numbers. On a device this size (1.

I've been using this watch properly now just over a week and I love it. There is so much customisable stuff you can do on it, with different apps connected to your phone via Bluetooth or WiFi. There are different modes the watch can be in and depending on these will affect the length of time the battery will last for. If you choose the 'Always On' mode it puts the watch in a slightly dimmed state when not in use, which means a charge lasts about 24hrs, depending on usage. If you use the 'Always On' mode off which is my preferred option and with the wrist gestures, I can flick my wrist to turn it on and use it as I would ordinarily and the battery life is extended to approximately two days. The charging cradle is easy to use, although if you have a custom strap fitted can be a bit fiddly as it has to sit with the strap underneath the charger.
It comes as default with a leather strap, however I have bought a new standard 22mm strap @ccessory 22mm Stainless Steel Metal Watch Band Strap + Tool For LG Watch Urbane W150 (Silver) to replace it which I much prefer, easy to replace out yourself or visit a jeweller if you're not sure.
The custom watch faces you can download or create yourself are endless so you can always change the watch face at a minutes notice, making it a new watch. The ones in the picture I created myself but there are thousands out there you can have instead, making watch imitation child's play, be it a watch face to support your team, favourite brand or your own pictures, the possibilities are endless.

Maybe like me you're thinking, "why do I need a smart watch?". I had exactly the same thoughts and at the £200+ price points I just couldn't justify buying one so early on in their maturity.
So Black Friday came, and the highly rated LG Urbane is selling for £130. "I have to buy it", I said to myself, just to see what all the fuss is about.

Well, in the fews days that I have had it, let me tell you how it has changed my perception to being a must have add-on to your mobile device.

So, we all get that smartwatches are supposedly great for notifications etc, but what does that mean in day to day use.
"I can just use my mobile to view them" I hear you say.

I have a Oneplus One mobile, connected to my watch via Bluetooth. Due to security procedures with my work, I have to have a PIN to unlock my phone.
So every time a notification comes in for me, to view it involves me
(i) Picking up my phone
(ii) Double Tapping screen to wake device
(iii) swipe up home screen to allow me to enter PIN,
(iv) enter pin
(v) slide down from notification bar to see notification, then finally
(vi) tap on notification to open application.
That notification could be an SMS\text, Alarm, news item, other App message etc.

Anyway that seems acceptable until you discover the alternative the smartwatch gives you.

So imagine walking to work, wrapped up because of rain with mobile tucked away in an inside coat pocket (or in a bag if you're female).
SMS message comes in. I now get a vibration on my wrist to notify me I have a notification popped up on my phone.
I look at my watch and can read the text in one swipe without having to undo my coat, or even touch my mobile.
