However I like the Price to Performance ratio.
1920X1200 is super stunning on this AH-IPS monitor!! Colours are beautiful, Images are crystal, Response time is very good (Also GAME option in the presets and loads more features. And the resolution/Colors are just Night and Day between VA,TN and 1080p panels and this.
Nice build quality and matte screen with very nice and thin bezel finish. Plenty inputs, DVI-D, VGA, DISPLAY PORT, Audio in + out, 2 USB inputs.
Also easy Vertical rotatable and perfect viewing angles.
This monitor arrived with MORE THAN 8 STUCK GREEN/RED PIXELS!!! It was noticeable from the very beginning the screen turned on, It is mostly in the center of the screen from top to bottom which is really distracting.
Stand is a little flimsy but not that bad to put me off.
VGA input did also not detect via my laptop, (Not the laptops fault as it works fine with the same VGA cable on a different panel)
Also no Display port cable included so you need to buy that separately. Whilst a DVI cable is supplied alongside with a VGA cable, Power cable, Audio out cable and a CD with the drivers on it.
I will be returning this LG Monitor just because of the dozen of stuck pixels and counting, It is a shame as I really fell in love with the stunning picture quality of this monitor, With 5 ms response time it was great for gaming for the first 10 minutes. but then got distracted in dark scenes by the stuck pixels (which only appeared in black background.
However it is possible that I just got unlucky and got send a bad unit.
Overall performance and quality of the Monitor it really deserves a 5 star rating
set aside from the Pixel problems which really put me off from keeping it.
This monitor is very good value in comparison with other 24" AH-IPS screens, thought I bought this primarily because 1920x1200 displays are rare these days with the 1080p HD TV marketing machine at full speed to the masses.
I work in IT on the computer all day and benefit from the extra working area and consistent backlighting, also haven't noted any dead or stuck pixels on this item.
I do find the Anti-Glare coating a little harsh on this screen leading to grainy text and whites, I think some of the latest screens from manufacturers like Dell have slightly reduced amount of coating, but it seems LG are persisting with the 3H anti-glare.
- Latest AH-IPS panel technology
- 1920x1200 (16:10) for 10% more working area than 1920x1080 (16:9)
- Nice dark brushed aluminium style finish
- Display Port connector suitable for both PC and Mac (mini Display Port / Thunderbolt) without an adapter
- Low power usage at 28W
- 2 year warranty a little lower than some competitors, but positively the documentation does state on-site swap out.
- No Display Port cable supplied, a little cheap (Though I needed a separate miniDP to DP anyway for macbook)
- Black text seems grainier than glossy Apple display even though they are based on the same LG panels, not sure if this is due to the hard anti-glare coating vs glossy, or just being spoilt by Apple retina text smoothing.
Purchased as an upgrade, and found the IPS System is superb. The picture quality markedly brighter and sharper than I'd seen before. This was very apparent on web pages such as this where the text is crisper and much easier to read.
With full screen graphics it's excellent, blue ray quality movies are rendered in top resolution.
LG seem to produce a never ending stream of top quality monitors, and even this one is likely to be surpassed soon.
If you are looking for a monitor this size, there are very few out there to match it's quality for the asking price !!
Initially I wasn't too fussed about the vertical/horizontal switch ability of the monitor, until I set it up. The base is solid and when rotated the screen is just as capable as before. Turned out to be a very useful feature.
Recommend without hesitation.
